Kinda like this season seems to be going.

Maybe if the last two books are 30 page pamphlets.

would question if you've even read the books. Most book readers have long thought that the battle with the Night King would be over really early on, because that is something that Martin ISN'T that interested in as opposed to the human interactions and machinations.

I have always felt everything beyond the wall was Martins way of making the books too expensive to turn into a movie or tv show.

Say what you want about how cliche the show is now, Dance was an absolute mess of a book that created more loose ends than closing story lines.

It was extremely evident that she ran fast as frick past the white walker (why his hair blew in the wind) and then just jumped up toward the NK. This isn’t that hard to gather from watching it...

This!
We had just endured a 5 minute scene with her and 10 wights inside ( the library?) where she was quick and silent enough that they knew she was in there, but could not find / see her. From the scene with Joffrey threatening her with the sword to her sword training in season 1 to all of the faceless man entire season training / fighting - it was all to get her to this point.

Which is why so many believe we’ll never see the end of the book series. He’s written himself in some serious corners.

Or Jon and Dany just ride over and burn KLs to the ground.

There are plenty of ways to deal with Cersei.

Want to bet they do neither of those things and instead do something really convoluted and stupid?

After last night, their chances have improved because it seems to be leaning towards more of a happily ever after ending than it is death and destruction for the Starks/Targaryens. IMO

If you think this has a happy ending, then you haven’t been paying attention

I doubt we even see another book. I haven’t loved the last few seasons but Martin wrote the show and himself in a bunch corners. Ala Dany in slavers bay

knowing her skill set, I dont think it is that crazy to say she could sneak past some wights in the forest (there wasnt an entire army right there) and then be able to sprint to the middle with it being too late for the WW to react. Their attention was clearly focused on the NK and Bran. A WW could have easily thought any movement around him was just another wight.

A lot of blowback also exists if you disagree with who the villain is here.

To me, having read the books as well, the villain of this show has always been the Others.

They were, that's why Jon and Dany assembled the greatest army the world has ever known to fight them. Cersei bullshitting them didn't make her any more dangerous, it just meant she got put on the back-burner while the primary threat is dealt with.

Had they tried going after her, the NK would have been dogging their asses all the way to King's Landing. Most likely he would have caught them well before that as they would need to rest and his undying mob would not.

At best, they make it to King's Landing and end up having to lay siege and the Night King catches them between his forces and the walls of King's Landing. Without heavy defenses, the dead would have chewed through those allied forces and then raised all of them to add to their numbers in the attack on King's Landing.

But... now that the Night King has been killed there's the fallout of everything to deal with. The allies of the north have been fricking decimated and they still have to deal with not only Cersei but her frickton of fresh troops from Essos. While she's a lesser threat than the Night King was, she may well end up being the tougher fight because of how the Night King weakened the alliance.

Well if the first half of the show was being written by D and D, Ned Stark probably would’ve rolled off the chopping block and escaped while carrying Arya over one shoulder.

It'll be a happy ending that sets HBO up for sequels and movies. 100% guaranteed.

They ran out of book source material, which contained all the interesting plots and risks, and this show was too profitable to risk at that point. So they turned it into a Hollywood money printing machine. It'll end as a paint by numbers story book ending and it'll set HBO up for a sequel series with these same actors who for the most part will never find other meaningful work.
