Thought the episode was great just for the Jon/Sam/Ed reminiscing and Sam giving Jorah Heartsbane. And Brienne finally getting knighted. Tormund humor. Arya and Gendry sealing the deal. Jamie continues his redemption arc. Finally learning how Podrick didn’t have to pay.
As far as setup episodes go this one was hard to beat.

This has been the most predictable path to criticism ever.
Early on the show is sort of a niche thing, so the people who like it aren't burdened by the mainstream label that they painstakingly avoid. The book readers are relatively rare and think they're God's gift to mankind as the show evolves.
Now that 15 million people watch every Sunday, they go out of their way to talk about the show being dumbed down and how it lost its soul. Whatever vague BS they can come up with in order to justify watching a show with 15 million fans instead of their own little group of book readers. They're mainstream now, and they absolute hate themselves for it.

Every episode that isn’t the battle of the bastards is the worst episode ever now.
I can’t imagine going through life not at least enjoying this episode. Was it perfect? No. But it was an incredibly entertaining non-battle episode.

I think I've had enough sassy little girls talking about fighting.
I don't think GoT has gone off the feminism deep end like some people have, but God damn, every other scene is in this episode was some young girl talking about fighting or showing off what bad arse fighters they were. It's getting hard not to roll eyes.

Also I accidentally read that there was major “spoiler nudity” in this ep and went through a real rollercoaster anytime two characters were on screen

Have you never seen the “and then everyone started clapping” memes?
It was silly. I’ve grown to like brienne more than I thought I would. She’s an interesting character and I think she deserves a glorious death. I didn’t think it mattered if she was a knight or not because she’s an honorable and great warrior with a Valyrian steel sword. She’s had a tremendous amount of influence in jaime’s arc.
I just think the clapping was over the top and out of place. And made me think of the meme.
I’d have rather them raise their swords to Ser Brienne and Poor Tormund to get a night with a knight
