Stannis whole family is dead, and everyone marched North. He needed everyone to support his war because he had no allies.

Was expecting a little more than that with it only being 7 episodes this season.

Just remember, they split one season into two. Might not be a crazy season the whole way through. This episode wasn't, but things are going to start moving quickly

Cold open was great, but the Hound won episode one. What they did with him was perfection, and his performance was outstanding.

in what was perhaps the most obvious reveal of the series

Agreed about the Hound, that was badass. I figured when he asked him to look into the fire that he would see something, but I was wondering if we would see it too. I thought it was executed very well.

There's a postgame show on YouTube by the young Turks. Not horrible so far. And no spoilers.

Jaime is the wildcard in this. Not impressed with what Cersei is doing, overall getting tired of the side he's on.
Contempt for the Freys, now contempt for Euron.
Oddly relaxed about the mention of Tyrion, too...

Not sure he doesn't flip at some point. He has ties to both opposing sides... Brienne is in the North, and I could see him agreeing with Snow's position that the true enemy is the one approaching the Wall.
added- Snow has just shown that he doesn't condemn an entire House for the actions they do in war- see the Karstarks and Umbars. And he's not after the Throne, he wants to defend the Wall. If you remove Cersei from the equation, Jaime has very little beef with Snow.

Tyrion is with Dany, but so are the Sand Snakes, and that poses a problem. I'd say killing Dany's father would be too, but for some reason, I don't get that vibe, from either party. I truly get the sense Tyrion could broker a peace between those two.

I was eating during the maester chores sequence. I almost threw up. And I'll never look at soup the same way again

Yea I mean he kinda kick started the whole thing by pushing Bran out a tower window when he was fricking his sister. I'd say there is beef there but maybe everyone just got over that

Dany is in Westeros, and Bran is south of the wall. Those are both very significant and happened in the same episode.

Yeah it didn't help that the recap right before the cold open was Arya slitting ol boy's throat and then ol boy all the sudden being on camera.

The North mfing Remembers!! Great episode. Scenes from the next got me hyped.

Obviously there's going to be some trouble in KOTN land when they find out he's a Targaryean also with that whole "we can't trust a targ" thing in the previews along with what we already know about the internal strife brewing with Jon / Sansa / Littlefinger
