what? He's the guy who went to the party and couldn't handle his own weaknesses, so he took a position of piety. It's classic, and Smirky knows it.

Moral superior? bullshite. He craves power as much or more than any of them, which is why he went straight for the royal family and doesn't seem to have bothered with too many others.

I agree, but many of the same people who hate his character look at similar types of people in their own faiths as great men.

I think it speaks to that type of person being inherently unlikeable and transparent, but we often delude ourselves.

Not too transparent, evidently.

BTW, I saw that Jon and Edd had the "until my death" vs. "all the nights to come" argument in about 4 seconds. I guess it's decided now.

Loved the episode, but I'll be in the minority of the people that weren't going crazy over the Dany scene to end the episode

1.) I don't care if she shows her tits. I've seen them, it's not a huge deal if she shows them again

2.) I've said it before but holy shite we are just rehashing her storyline from season 1-3, it's insanity at this point to watch THE EXACT SAME THINGS happen to her that have already happened to her. And Im supposed to be super hype about it? YAWN. Call me when you leave essos and do something different in your story arc

Other than that it was great. Loved that they got right to the reunion, and are delving into Jon snows psyche. Him and Sansa do really well together on screen.

The pink letter was beautifully done.

Next week should be great. I'm guessing LF will have to pledge his Vale forces to Jon and Sansa if he wants to leave that conversation with his head. 2,000 wildings plus a big vale army and any small houses should be plenty enough to have similar numbers to the Bolton forces. They will need weapon and steel for the wildings I would think though. I'm thinking that after the battle of the bastards, Sam will send Jon a letter telling him he needs to start collecting dragon glass, and he will send Davos to dragon stone to retrieve as many men and as much dragon glass as he can.

As for Bran, I don't think it will be as interesting as they want you to believe. It looks like a scene they filmed to put in the trailers to build season hype. We've seen everything that will happen In that scene and once the nights king touches Bran, he will wake up and demand that the 3 eyed raven be more direct, which will lead to the TOJ again later on in the season

Did I miss a more obvious conclusion to what the sparrow told Tommen? Or was it just that Margery needed to repent? The conversation between the sparrow and Tommen seemed like nothing was said of note, and then this week he tells Cercei some crazy secret that he promised not to tell or something like that

She just got a dothraki horde dude. I agree that her whole storyline has been sh*t since season 2, but she has 100,000 dothraki, about 8 thousand unsullied, 2,000 second sons, and 3 MFin dragons. And they are following her, not khal drogo. They are going to do whatever she wants. She's going to Westeros, finally. That's something to get excited about. Might not be until the end of this season or beginning of next, but its gonna happen. And its about time.

loved the episode but Jon and Sansa have basically switched personalities. Jon needs to get badass real soon.

He just watched his enemies slowly choke out and die, I think he's probably all out of fricks to give and about to break off 3 feet of Valaryian steel in Bolton.

Only reprieve for Ramsey is if the White Walkers slow Jon down.

That seems suicidially dumb, I mean why not just wear a meat suit and bet Jon that he can't get a wolf to eat him.

How many houses will side with Jon and Sansa?
I'm guessing some minor houses, probably the Mormonts because the audience has heard of them, and maybe one or two of Ramsay's "allies." And of course, the Vale.

I think people may be underestimating that Jon has an insanely good recruiting pitch- being a messianic figure probably helps when raising an army.

That seems like it would be the best duel of the series, especially if Jon embraced his Targaryen roots during the battle.

This feels like it shouldn't be a close fight even with Ramsay's fight scene against the Iron Islanders. It might just be book thoughts invading but even pre Jesus Jon with the great sword was a pretty high end swordsman especially for his level of experience, now that he's gone all Azhor Azhai it seems like he'd just cut right through Ramsey.

If someone doesn't have Robb's decree to legitimize Jon and make him heir, then Bran is first in line, followed by Rickon, then Sansa. Jon wouldn't have a claim being a bastard. And if his true parentage is made known, then he really wouldn't have a claim to Winterfell seeing as he'd be a Targ, and not a Stark.

No, he'd still be 4th in line for Winterfell.

One thing I found was interesting is that for all the parallels they are developing between Jon and Dany (I mean they went so far as to show both of them naked from behind last week), that he keeps demurring titles ("I'm no god", resigning as head of the NW, etc.) while she can't stop reciting her titles. Not sure if it means anything and if so, what. But it kind of stood out to me.

Either way, I have a feeling Sansa or Robyn Arryn or LF will legitimize Jon that way other northern houses will join their cause.

LF legitimizing Jon I think is the least likely thing imaginable, and all Sansa would do is have Jon jump her and Arya's birthright.

Yeah, I grew up Episcopal, but my best friend was Baptist. His preacher was a hell, fire, and brimstone preacher. Openly humiliated a gay person telling him they aren't comfortable with his presence and then kicked out another dozen or so people for signing an alcohol petition to make our county wet. Few weeks after that debacle, he's caught fricking his secretary, and then for whatever reason, he becomes all about forgiveness. He was expelled from the church, but just about any and all of my friends and their families went Presbyterian or Methodist seeing the absolute hypocrisy in his teachings.

I think by episode nine he won't have to be legitimized. By that point it may be known throughout the North that he is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.

I see no way it happens that fast. We will be lucky to know next episode.

He's not 4th in line under any scenario. A bastard can't claim anything. That is why Ramsay was so hell bent on being legitimized. And if Robb's decree comes to light, then he is first in line since Robb made him the heir of Winterfell. And if his parentage comes to light, then his only chance at Winterfell is if everyone of the other Starks are killed off (including Arya who is actually 4th in this scenario), and then would still probably need the the King's/Queen's backing which wouldn't happen because he would be heir to the actual Iron Throne (unless he just gives it to someone else and decides to just take Winterfell).

We obviously don't have a full understanding of Westerosi succession laws, but assuming Bran, Rickon, Sansa, and Arya are all killed/MIA then Jon would be by far closest by blood to taking Winterfell.

I thought they referenced a similar situation in the books (all of a real line is wiped out and a bastard continues it), but you would be going back up to a sibling of Rickard Stark (if one exists) and finding his descendants to put on the seat if you don't pick Jon.
