Kind of surprised that no screen shots comparisons of shaggy dog in previous seasons and the head the other night haven't popped up.

Yeah seems like a popular opinion is that the head was not really a dire wolf head because it was too small.

I honestly think it would be more interesting to see new-Jon through the lens of his actual lineage, but it may be too much for the Hodors

This if you think about 90% of what's he's done at the wall was straight up Ned with only bits and pieces to show he's different.

To have him come back as a bad arse who loopholes his oath then rides South with the wildings to end the wars for the throne with perhaps the biggest army in Westeros that's some Targareyn shite. (to go to predictions, he's going to suffer for this as some or all of his friends in the watch will die to the White Walkers forcing him to turn North again to save the world.

they have.

the head is smaller.

its almost assuredly inconsequential and a continuity error.

Yeah I was just thinking that if his identity ultimately isn't important, then why not keep his age consistent with Brynden and just never say the name.

I couldn't remember how long ago the age of heroes was. I was just trying to think of pre-Aegon names we even knew... Brann was basically the only one to come to mind.

Maybe it is just him experiencing 1000 years of history.

I am an expert on wolf heads and that is definitely not the same wolf head.

The Freys won't be in the north, IMO. They'll be at Walder's wedding. You also have to think they'd be wondering where the frick Roose and Walda are.
The epic battle scenes have been their ratings bread and butter, so that's obviously going to happen, but for Frey to be getting married during his ally's biggest test is a little strange, though it would make sense that they might part ways after they find out that Walda and Roose are dead.

Which leaves Manderly. Some evidence suggests that he won't even be in the show, but Ramsay mentioned him to Roose last week. If all he gets is mentioned and has nothing to do with a betrayal, that's pretty weak, and the theorized, supernaturally caused death of Frey would be ridiculous.

It's definitely not the same head, but I also don't feel like D&D would go through the trouble to have the head match up EXACTLY like what was shown as Shaggydog on the show prior. It's like after all this time, they still are unable to realize that readers and fanboys (and girls.... Lady... ) will dig into and research the frick out of every little discrepancy and change in the show, as evidenced by this thread.

I am very hopeful for the GNC but I honestly think they are using the Umbers, Karstarks, & Manderlys because they are the only northern houses remotely familiar to Hodors. If Ramsay was teaming up with the Dustins and Glovers, Hodors would have no clue....

Again, I'm hopeful for the GNC but I just don't see it I also think Shaggydog is dead, unfortunately.

You have to remember that the old wolf switch a roo is a classic Umber trick.

Thorne also said "Lord Snow and his army of wildlings", is he in on the conspiracy as well?

He's called him Lord Snow as an insult from the beginning of his time at the Wall. I just took it as one last jab before hanging.

Jesus Christ. Are you still trying to re-write the show. Give it a rest Nancy. You are not a screen writer and never will be.

The guy who called out the OM posters in these threads NAILED it. You guys are the biggest whiners around. Grow up.

So does anyone else think they forego the pink letter?

I don't know why they would...?

Seems like they can replace Mance with Rickon and keep it pretty similar

or I guess Sansa can just tell Jon everything, thus causing him to head south

I think they do the pink letter. Jon all ready to leave castle black and then a courier arrives, maybe with a dead Osha, and the pink letter.

Jon gathers a wildling army, and unlike the books does not get support form Northern houses.

Gonna be funny when Brienne gets to the Wall and realizes Melisandre is the one who killed Renly.
