It's been 52 hours of a 70 hour series. I hope by now you have some idea of the end game regardless.

In 99.9% of all fiction we condone (literature, movies, TV shows, etc) the bad guy loses. Yet people still consume fiction because they like good guys winning.
The bad guy winning would make it a great series. The good guy winning it would still be good but it would be a bland ending. I don't want a bland ending.

Guys how about an ending where aliens show up and then Magneto saves Westeros from aliens. No one will see that coming ergo it is good story telling.

That was a Top 5 episode. GTFO.

The Season 6 premiere was a top 5 episode? Get the frick out.

I'm really hoping you misinterpreted me disliking an episode. I liked this one and hated the previous one. But regardless, you're really jumping the gun by calling this a Top 5 episode. It might be since I also thoroughly enjoyed it, but it is highly reactive to call it a Top 5 episode. It was no Hardhome or Blackwater episode to make that definitive, as great as it was.

I've suspected for 2 years now that Jon Snow ends up being revived and killing the white walkers. I was just hoping I'd be proven wrong.

In behind the episode, D&D kinda left the "can Jon warg" theory open ended. I guess just in case they want to explore that possibility in a future episode.

What did it set up though? Aside from Brienne joining with Sansa, I'll tell you: nothing. It set up nothing. It was a garbage episode and I bet that all of you would know exactly what was going on if you skipped that episode without watching previous clips. It was an awful episode.

If the final shot is the white walkers murdering the last human everyone would fricking hate it. Sure it would be shocking, but it goes against every narrative we appreciate as a culture.

Why do people always insist that different opinions are trolling? I have not once trolled a Game of Thrones/ASOIAF thread. But the one time I have a different opinion than everyone else, it's "You're a troll" or "You're miserable".

At this point we all know Jon Snow can't be killed permanently and will kill all the white walkers.

Who said he won't die? I think he will die in the end, but not before leading man against the Walkers. He'll probably sacrifice himself or something in the final showdown or something.

But to expect him to die with two books remaining is ludicrous. That was never going to happen based on the ground work that GRRM had carefully laid over the previous books.

How? What happened that changes things? I can say several from this episode, but about 2 in the one before it. That episode was garbage, but this one was fricking great.

Honestly, if this doesn't do something new and different, it's just an average epic fantasy series. It gets so much love because it's a lot of people's first plunge into the genre, but it honestly isn't even my favorite work of the last decade or two.

Why waste your time watching a show if you know what the end game is? At this point we all know Jon Snow can't be killed permanently and will kill all the white walkers. So his storyline is now boring. There's no point in watching his now, especially when they confirm that R+L=J.

1. This is a silly argument. It's fine if you find it boring but most of us find the overal mythology surrounding his story fully compelling

2. I recall Berric Dondarian being resurrected a few times and the priest saying there's a limited number of times the body can handle it. This is why Berric passed the gift onto Stoneheart

I'm actually curious about Bran. I thought he was just going to be stuck under the tree watching stuff forever. They made it sound like he is gonna head south eventually.

Well, it's certainly one or the other... Or both. I don't have a problem with either actually.

You could say the exact same thing about any other main character that has been killed.

As a dedicated fantasy reader, I agree. For most of the audience though.... That is meaningless
