Nah. He gave that interview to Entertainment Weekly, Not congress
Dude is just lying to throw scent of the trail
How many other characters have they tried this hard to tell everyone that they are dead?

Thoros of Myr. He brought back a guy 6 times from death.

Just what I was thinking. Jon's watch has ended, so now time for the new Jon. Will be interesting to see where that story line goes. I am guessing Red Witch figured out it wasn't Stannis she "saw" taking Winterfell but Snow and that's why she headed back to the wall so quickly, rather than south.

Thoughts on the finale and some musings in this thread.
* Can we please stop mentioning Brienne's "failures." There is literally nothing she could have done to save Renly or Catlyn Stark.
* I sincerely doubt Stannis is dead. As someone mentioned in this thread already, the angle of the blade strike makes no sense. I think Stannis saying "Do your duty" reminds Brienne of her duty to protect Sansa. She will realize she has a better chance with Stannis alive. Her duty to protect Renly can no longer be fulfilled but her duty to Sansa can.
* I would wager that John Snow is alive. Mel's expression definitely reflected that she was wrong in her interpretation of the Lord of Lights plan and headed to the Wall becuz she believes JS is the man. Couple this with Thor...yada yada yada
*What is there really to question about Sansa and Theon jumping? Whatever chance of survival tehy have falling into the snow pack or frozen moat is > just staying put.
*No thoughts on Arya's final scene. If anyone has a good theory plz post in the thread.
*I cant believe the Sparrow let Cersei go. I al
so cant believe the writers caused me to feel sympathy for Cersei but they did. Like many, I kind of want to see FrankenMountain go HAM.

Seriously, how long can the sparrows survive now. Cersei is going to take a bath, eat a good meal, maybe catch a nap.. then tear that temple apart. Every sparrows head on pikes and nobody will stop her. Even her uncle has to back her up. The high sparrow has to know its coming. I'm hoping thats the opening on next season. Just piles of bodies everywhere..

Pretty sure he's dead other than him being raised later or something, I don't see any benefit to keeping him around - he is an all-around failure in the grand scheme of it all.

99.9% sure he is revived unless the showrunners decide to ditch the raise dead theme for main characters.

I'm not onboard with the theories that they could be dead from the fall - can't imagine the show would kill off two assets for no apparent reason. LF's storyline is probably tied to Sansa somewhat (he needs a Queen for the long run) and Theon still can be a redemption case.

I'm guessing a figurative "eye for an eye" sort of thing, maybe she'll have to repent in order to regain her eyesight, IDK.

I think it was worth it just for the Walk scene, TBH. The ZombieMountain likely is going to assist in helping Cersei regain respect in the Capital. Also, isn't Cersei going to trial? I'm assuming she can do a trial by combat and oh look, 8 ft tall undead monster is available to serve

For once I will be rooting her on. The Sparrows need to be dealt with and the Zombie Mountain is going to wreck havoc next season

You saw what happened in Meereen. The people struck back at Daenerys and she's actually NOT a crazy whore...!
Cersei would have to hide away in the Red Keep, and even then it'd only take a little Dorne juice in her wine.

quote:Or, she's misinterpreted her visions. Remember the last one she told Stannis? Something to the effect of "You have to be victorious, I've seen you standing on the walls of Winterfell, with the banners of the Flayed Man (Boltons) thrown down".
I am guessing Red Witch figured out it wasn't Stannis she "saw" taking Winterfell but Snow and that's why she headed back to the wall so quickly, rather than south.
Stannis to Brienne- "do your duty".
Ok, now:
1) Brienne's duty is obviously to save/protect Sansa.
2) Brienne stopped watching Winterfell when she learned Stannis was there, thus she thinks Sansa is still in Winterfell
3) If she goes into Winterfell to find Sansa, she will need a good swordsman at her side
4) Stannis is miserable, but he's one badass mofo: he stood at the very front of the line in a hopeless battle, and when everyone else on his side was dead or had escaped, he was still killing Bolton soldiers. If he wanted to fight Brienne straight up, he might well win, but has no desire to fight her over her just causes.
Brienne is chopping the tree in frustration, because her duty (to her), is clearly to get Sansa out of a terrible place, one she can't escape now that Stannis' army is defeated. To do so, she will need Stannis, and thus can't kill him.
She probably tells him to get off his arse and do something good for a change, and he takes Roose out in a raid. Probably massacres the fat wife too. Ramsay escapes by being out after Sansa, and the loss of the Bolton bosses causes Winterfell to successfully revolt against the Boltons (the candle is the signal for the people to rise up).
And this could be what Melisandre saw.
Stannis and Brienne make an interesting pair. Much like she did with Jaime, she will come to respect this "great but terrible" guy. Both have been driven by duty, only to see abject failure while doing so.
She may still vow to kill him, but I almost think he makes her promise to do so, once he's no longer of use.

Especially everything post Red Wedding. That was essentially the end of a very good story that drove things to that point. I've found the show pretty aimless since then.
That's pretty much the exact point the books and the show veered apart.

My post from the other thread:
I will say this about the finale.
If Jon is actually dead. Then his entire arc is him getting the wildlings across the wall.
Because that is the only thing he accomplished.
This makes his story arc the most pointless of all the "major deaths".
If Jon is resurrected, he is free from his life oath. And the ramifications of that could be game changing
But if he is dead for good, his character was the most pointless POV character.
