I'm pretty sure Tywin said that The Mountain was not given orders to do it, but that he can't always control "wild beasts" or something to that effect.
I can't watch the clip right now.
I edit to add what you are saying is true but he never admitted the mountain did it.
Tywin: What did you discuss?
Viper: The death of my sister.
Tywin: For which you blame me.
Viper: She was raped and murdered by the Mountain.
The Mountain follows your orders.
Of course I blame you.
Tywin: Here I stand unarmed, unguarded.
Should I be concerned?
Viper: You are unarmed and unguarded because you know me better than that.
I am a man of reason.
If I cut your throat today, I will be drawn and quartered tomorrow.
Tywin: Men at war commit all kinds of crimes without their superiors' knowledge.
Viper: So you deny involvement in Elia's murder?
Tywin: Categorically.

Tywin says that "men in times of war commit all kinds of crimes without their superior's knowledge." Then Oberyn asks if he denies involvement in the killings and Tywin replies "categorically". I don't see how this can be interpreted any other way.
Tywin is not denying that the Mountain committed the crimes, but rather trying to cover his own arse, saying that he didn't give the orders.

I agree with that. But he still never had proof until the mountain admitted it at the fight. I am just saying that will cause the Lanisters problems.

I don't think anyone denied that the Mountain was responsible. Tywin surely wasn't going to bat for him in that scene. It seems like it was common knowledge or at least a solid rumor that the Mountain did it.
There may be fallout, I'm not sure, but I won't be surprised if there isn't.

Well it's strongly implied and plainly stated that Varys likes little boys

It will happen but I doubt Dany has much control over them at this point is what I'm saying.

I don't believe that. It was just rumors, obviously Oberyn believed them but I don't believe it is common knowledge. We shall see. Maybe Tywin won't get heat for it but if the Mountain is alive I will put anything on it that the Crown will have to punish him.

yes, that he lacks desire and he's happy with that because it means less troubles.

i fricking hate how you have to read through 12 fricking pages to actually get to discussion about the episode this is supposed to be about.

UMRealist gave me a nice recap this morning on page 48. It'd be nice if something like this could go in the OP each week.

There haven't been any real spoilers. Not that that stops some people from bitching.
There probably was 20 pages of discussion on who was spoiling what and who is and isn't a reader.
About 5 pages was (once again) devoted to discussing the "rape" scene in episode 3. Not sure why
Another 10 pages devoted to How we felt when Oberyns head was smashed in.
The rest is just odds and ends.

Decided to go back to the beginning of the thread to see people's reactions as it happened

Oberyn might still be OK.

That thrillho post is one of the best I've seen, and it instantly made me feel a little less sick about the ending

Wait, some moron in here thinks that everyone who correctly (possibly, we still don't know if the mountain is dead yet) predicted the outcome of the fight is a book reader? If we aren't book readers we can't have correct theories?

Thrillho is one of my favorite posters. I wasn't capable of making a joke at that point, especially considering I watched it right after watch LSU choke. I just cried myself to sleep after that

General question..
Do you all think this season has been subpar in comparison to the first 3?
I feel like each episode this season moves slowly until the final 10 minutes where it is really good, just to lead up to the weekly cliffhanger.
Dunno, maybe my perspective is skewed because I watch the first two seasons at once over a week or so and loved it, then watched last season in bunches at times and am watching every ep each week this season.
Just wondering.

Yeah, that's the gist of it. Wait until that person realizes that some of the same people who figured out 'maybe both will die' are so good at watching TV and putting clues together that we also figured out 'the poison was in Sansa's necklace and Granny whacked Joffrey'.
He may try to have our computers destroyed.

I think the mountain dying is a much bigger problem for the Lannister's than any admission which didn't implicate Tywin anyway.
