It is something to do with them being the "old gods" in Westero's.
Jon took his vows in front of a similar tree past the wall.

I've been saying for a while that Littlefinger is exactly like a Frank Underwood. It's becoming more and more true.

Well he's been pretty good at tying up loose ends of his exploits so far. She obviously likes to run her mouth about what they did. As far as I'm concerned...SHE DEAD

Ok, in. Had to wait until after I finished studying.
Margaery dropping the whole "We'll be like sisters" thing...damn bitch, do you not learn anything? Cersei still wants you dead.
And Arya...why tell the big guy with the big sword that you're gonna kill him? That's a great way to wake up impaled.
Otherwise...great episode. Of course the little Stark reunion between Bran and Jon didn't happen.
Arya's probably gonna pull something stupid before she gets to the Vale and not see her sister.
I'm glad Locke didn't mess up shite either. I thought for sure he was just gonna stick Bran right then and there.
But the whole thing with Lysa killing her husband...damn!

Seems like lysa is going to die before seasons end.. Loose lips sink ships..and LF is way to too smart for that psycho bitch to take him down after coming this far..
Posted on 5/5/14 at 2:12 am to iliveinabox
Calling it now. Lysa dies as soon as Arya's about to show up. All hell breaks loose in the Eyrie and Arya/Hound have to run away again

Ugh, not again.

Can't we have ONE little happy reunion?? Just one?

I hope LF throws Lysa and that kid from the castle. Just like that selfish brat did to his glass bird.

So were we supposed to take from the sword fighting practice scene with Arya and the Hound that Ned didn't really get her a sword fighting teacher and he really was a dance instructor or some shite?

I could be wrong, but wasn't she talking about Winterfell's Master at Arms?

Great episode but I feel like I'm being set up to be punched in the nuts.
Everything I wanted to happen happened, Hodor going apeshit and wrecking shop on Locke, Jon killing the creepy skull drinking guy, Bran and the Scooby gang getting out safely, Summer being ok, Ghost murderizing one of the bad guys.
The good guys kicked arse this episode so now I feel like everybody I like is going to die horribly, this show makes me paranoid.
Lysa killing her husband and Littlefinger orchestrating everything up to this point was a huge reveal, I hope her and her tit sucking pre-teen fall out the moon door really soon, she's ugly as frick and her kid annoys the hell out of me.
Natalie Dormer is hot as frick and the crooked little smile of hers makes me happy in my pants.

She was talking about the little dude from Bravos that was holding his own with a stick til he got outnumbered.

I think we learned from Tywin's convo with Cersei that the Lannisters need the Tyrells more than the Tyrells need the Lannisters. Margery probably knows this too, from her convos with Olenna. She's probably just fricking with Cersei.

No fricking shite. That was so fricking stupid. George RR Martin really is a giant troll. If the Starks are never gonna reunite, then quit teasing us with POINTLESS bullshite about them almost connecting over and fricking over. It's so stupid that Bran wouldn't talk to Jon Snow..makes absolutely no sense. Bran could've convinced JS pretty easily IMO that he needed to continue north, and could've talked JS into letting him go. Worse comes to worse, they could've ran away at night or something...bottom line is that there was no reason not to reunite with your brother right there, and this is now the second time that's happened where Jon has saved Bran but they didn't reunite.
That being said though, the whole Craster's Keep part was pretty awesome. From Ghost merking the frick out of Rast's bitch arse to Hodor going full retard and damn near snapping Locke's head clean off. I just wish Brandon would've talked to Jon, even if it was like "Hey, bro..can't talk long cuz we're heading north to some tree to save the world, but I missed you, man. Oh, and Rickon is alive too."
Speaking of that, I guess we're not ever gonna see Rickon/Osha again..

Agree with this. The episode sort of had that vibe to it...like you said, good things were happening all over the place, so I was waiting for something to happen. For a brief moment, I actually thought Locke was gonna merk Brandon, until he pulled the whole "Well, I'm here to kill you, but instead of just killing you, I'm gonna untie you and take you with me and kill you later" bullshite...then I knew Bran was gonna be fine. Of course, I'd have also been ULTRA pissed that GRRM and the show have been building Bran up to apparently be something mega important, only to have him killed off that easily/quickly. But like I said, GRRM is a huge troll, so I was expecting it.
So Cersei now wants Margaery to help and marry Tommen? Weird...there has to be some sort of angle at play there. Either that, or Cersei actually used reason and realized that the Tyrells are useful and Margaery being queen would be a good thing. Hopefully that talk she had with Tywin made her understand how important the Tyrells are.
Speaking of that, we now know just how badly the Lannisters are in debt to the IBoB. That's not a good thing. But of course Tywin has shite under control like a boss and plans on paying off a lot of the debts with Tyrell money. []D [] []v[] []D
Dany is now like "frick Westeros, I'm going back to help the slaves and be a queen over here." What the bloody frick? I am officially off the Dany bandwagon and hope she dies and that whole storyline across the narrow sea ends VERY fricking soon. Oh, and I can't fricking stand the new Daario dude for some reason. He sucks.
We finally see Petyr "LF" Baelish bossing it up a bit and pulling hella strings. Planned it to have Jon Arryn killed, planned to have Joffrey killed, even seemed like he planned to have Catelyn Stark set up (though that one I didn't quite understand since he was infatuated with her). Also good to see that ole Lysa is still batshit fricking insane. The interactions between LF and Lysa were so hilarious...it was like you could tell that LF liked her because she sicks hella duck, but at the same time, she's pretty ugly and he has to share his tit-sucking with her teenage son, which has to be sort of a turnoff. It was awesomely awkward how horny Lysa was and how much you could tell LF wanted to be like "yeah, I have a headache."

I'm surprised Arya still hasn't gotten over Hound killing her doughboy padna. She needs to grow the frick up and realize how awesome Hound is and how he is her best chance to survive (instead of plotting to eventually kill him).

I took it as more like fencing vs. military combat, with the hound laughing at fencing. I'm still waiting to see how The Hound gets off Arya's list. Maybe when they make it to the Vale and Sansa confirms that he saved her from gang rape she'll call it even and he'll escort her to Braavos.
As for the rest of this episode,
LF is an opportunist, so while his ultimate goal is undoubtedly the crown, I think killing John Aryn was all about getting with Catelynn Stark. Sure Robert Boratheon would kill himself eventually the way he lived, but how could LF have predicted when he'd get killed by accident on a hunt? Drunken hunting seemed to be one of Robert's favorite activities. I think the plan was to have Ned follow the same path John Aryn did, kill him and blame it on the Lannisters, and then marry Catelyn to become King of the North and continue being an opportunist from there. Robert dying just accelerated his ascent to the Iron Throne.
Someone else said that Tywin and Cersei's conversation about the Iron Bank made him think they were afraid of Daenerys getting their backing. I didn't get that from the conversation at all. I got that as long as the Tyrell's are "invested in the crown" ie Margaery is queen, they'll help pay the bills and everything will be fine. At this point there doesn't seem to be any reason to worry, they haven't missed a payment yet. Unfortunately this probably means Maergarey will die soon and the crown will lose the backing of the Tyrells. Because they have made too big of a deal of the IBoB for them to not enter the plot and put the screws to the crown/Lannisters.
Pod and Brienne has the makings of a good road trip. It's interesting that they are headed to Castle Black, the Night Watch can certainly use the reinforcements.
Bran's story line is finally getting interesting.

the children of the forest cut faces into all of those trees when they went into the forest after their treaty with the first men, iirc

Winterfell's Master-at-Arms was not the First Sword of Braavos, dude

I think there was a scene in like season one where someone (Maester Luwin?) is explaining the tree's significance to some of the Stark kids or something like that.
