Obviously not a real diamond.

Take a step back and think about how ridiculous that sounds.

Well yeah, it's probably not an actual diamond, but some kind of shaped solid that dissolves in liquid and becomes tasteless and odorless - and deadly, of course.

Definitely the wine, other people were getting pie.

If it was a vial of poison then she wouldn't need to put it on a necklace around Sansa's neck.

Theorizing that it was a dissolvable stone shaped like a diamond is a big stretch.

I thought it was the pie because that's whe. He started choking and gagging but then the full goblet was sitting in from of grandma.

Again, I think the old lady would be far more likely to be noticed by someone and caught if she tampered with the glass of wine sitting up in front of everyone than she would be sneaking some poison in.

I don't see how she could have put anything in the wine without risking someone in the audience or at the table seeing her.

It didn't have to be on a necklace. It could have been hidden on her person. Your theory may be correct. But just seems like a lot of extra trouble when the grandmother could have just smuggled the poison in herself.

Think about it like this:

Olenna had no way of knowing Tyrion would be fetching Joffrey's wine and would end up being implicated as the killer. She had to have a plan to implicate someone if something either went wrong or if someone was able to start connecting the dots, because if any Tyrell is implicated Margery is dead. Cersei already wants her dead.

Olenna couldn't risk walking in with it on her person, and especially not on a necklace she'd still be wearing.

Olenna's line after fiddling with Sansa's necklace was the biggest "LOOK HERE STUPID" line in the whole series thus far.

So Olenna Tyrell hired a court fool/shamed knight to give Sansa a necklace that she may or may not wear to Joffrey's wedding just so she can somehow unnoticed, pluck off a poisoned diamond and slip it into her granddaughter's husband's wine.

Lets say for a minute she DOES want to poison Joffrey with a poisoned diamond. Why give the necklace to the guy to give to Sansa if you're still going to end up putting the poison in YOURSELF? Just take the diamond off before the wedding, leave 2 liabilities (Dontos and Sansa) out of it and keep the diamond in your fricking pocket. Your scenario makes absolutely no sense.

Joffrey was taking the first bite of pie and no one was going to eat any after he died.

It's just the obvious choice given what we know now. Olenna's line combined with the picture of the necklace and the shot of her face as Tyrion gets the cup for Joffrey seems to point pretty strongly to her.

Additionally, like I said before, the fool giving Sansa that necklace last week was super random for this show. It just seemed out of place. This gives it meaning.

This is where your theory falls apart. If she had a diamond in her pocket no one would bat an eye. And that's assuming anyone would pat her down.

Got a late start but finally finished watching it.

Put me down for Old Man Lannister as the killer. He was tired of little shite's shenanigans.

But..... the foreshadowing, necklace thing, plus poison being a woman's tool really point to Oleena.

So she can reach over and drop a poison diamond in his cup in front of a huge audience without fear of being seen, but can't smuggle a pill or vial into the reception on her person?

Those medieval dresses didnt have pockets, and even if they did I'm sure the Kingsguard would be searching anyone that close to the king.
