Great catch on Manderly. I bet they snuck that in there as an Easter egg for the readers. Or for a "previously on" snippet a good ways down the line.

So I finally watched it, and the RW was underwhelming to me. Seemed like a hokey mob hit and nothing like in the book.
Why didn't Cat take Walder hostage instead of his worthless wife? She was right there under his table. They messed up Roose's line too.

I was just pointing it out and IMO he was drawing conclusions from things that weren't presented. You need to not get so upset because se make a comment about a post in the other thread.

She would have gotten killed before she made it to Walder. His wife was right there.

The change in the line was necessary to make sure Jaime isn't totally connected to it. They want to keep redeeming Jaime, and that would destroy it. Different ways to do things on TV and print.

And it was perfect.

What about Roose's "drive by" stabbing?

Haven't followed the thread because I am busy in intersession but here are my thoughts.

First impression was it was the best episode so far. My only problem was in the book the RW was mass chaos and gave you a glimmer of a hope that Robb would survive before crushing it which is more heart wrenching. You wanted the Greatjohn to drunkenly kill all the Walders and rescue Robb. There needed to be more people in the room.

Cat "dying" and cutting to the credits in silence was so powerful.

How did Jon and the wildlings get separated in the book was it like that? I forget.

Maisie Williams is gonna have her acting chops tested next episode and I wonder if we get to see Grey Wind lend Robb a head.

Can yall help me get that Jeff guy banned. He's obviously throwing out spoilers into the non-spoilers thread. It's ridiculous. My friend just spoiled what happens next episode and Jeff is telegraphing very big reveal

nothing we can do about it, he's just a clever show watcher who pays attention to detail

I haven't read what everyone else thinks, but I thought the RW was horribly done.

I was actually a little embarrassed for the show that something so important could completely underwhelm me.

I mean, it wasn't suspenseful, it wasn't well acted, it looked like a B movie fit scene. And the drive by killings of Rob and Cat were some of the silliest things I've ever seen.

I think the non readers are probably ok with everything, because the shock of what is happening draws their attention. But frick, in thought it was horrible.

And they fricked up the Arya cliffhanger.

I'm disappointed in that scene for sure.

Luckily, we saw the Hound a lot, and his scenes with Arya are great.

how were you not in suspense? when they stuck talisa in the gut, my heart started pounding. i got goosebumps when RoC started playing. I had the chills for the whole scene and loved it. Yeah, they could've done the Arya axe thing, but I think they wanted there to not be a complete shitstorm. How can you say it was not well acted? Catelyn was AMAZING, Walder was awesome, Roose was sickeningly good and you could tell it made him so happy to show Cat his chainmail. They killed Catelyn exactly like they did in the book, minus her clawing her face.

I don't know if he is in the minority. Not many people said they thought it was horribly done, but I have seen many posts today where people say the whole thing was not as grand in scale and suspense on screen as it was in the books (something that is true for most screen adaptions of literature but still true nonetheless)

If they had ended it with Arya getting axed, I bet a ton of people would have said "frick this" and just stopped watching.

I got chills when they started playing Rains of Castamere as well, and thought they did a pretty great job with the RW. I do wish Grey Winds death was more badass though.

Did anyone else spend all day singing Rains of Castamere in their deepest baritone?

Probably so.

Like someone else said though, I imagined it much more chaotic, with the feeling that Rob actually had a chance in the book.

No, but this has been stuck in my head for the past couple of days.
