Agreed 100%, the show is not doing a good job of capturing how he really is in the books. Hopefully this season they will start to get it right. Phenomenal character.

If they are lucky her character will be changed a bit imo. Non-readers I know IRL are all happy she finally got some balls. I had to bite my tongue when I wanted to tell them she only has flashes of brilliance then goes right back to her old ways.

I think they have to, especially when they begin filming the Dance with Dragons season.

That, at least, is understandable.

I think that every show watcher who hasn't read the books, is thinking that. I think even Dany is thinking that right now. Only Martin decided it was best to spend some time in Mereen, "learning to rule" or fail at it.
It is a crying shame that they want no backstory. What got me into this show and the books in the first place was the original Game of Thrones thread, with all the backstories, family trees, and info aboout the seven kingdoms prior and after Targ rule, and info about the lands.
Then I was a non-reader. But here you have a core of people who would rather think Rickon is a random kid, with a Direwolf or call Hodor a spoiler than to pay attention to one of the greatest stories of all time.
But it's what they want. Obvious a ninja Admin here (because this site does not like you knowing who the admins are) agrees with them.

They are going to be piiisssssseeedddd when she takes a detour for some Daario peen. Even if they add to the story, that's going to have to be a mainstay to get the point across that she's still just a young woman longing for companionship as well.

Awesome! I put a lot of time and effort into that a few years ago. Glad I got someone interested.

Couldn't agree more. The universe itself is what makes this thing so special. To this day I still spend hours perusing over the GoT Wiki reading about houses and castles and legends. They're so far up their own arse that they don't realize how much they're ruining it for themselves. Which reminds me:
I've been meaning to thank all of you who came into the thread last year and helped us out understanding everything without spoiling anything. As a non-reader, it was overwhelming, and I wouldn't have enjoyed the series (and ended up deciding to read them) if you guys hadn't been there to explain the more confusing things. Its a shame these Hodors can't see it the same way.

No fricking way 40Rouge in the other thread isn't a reader. He basically spelled out Danaerys' entire story for them there.
Posted on 4/23/13 at 12:06 pm to Hugo Stiglitz
Did something happen with the admins? I haven't paid much attention the last day or so.

meh, it's a plausible theory for a non reader.
However, he's on the invisible watch list.

I don't know, I don't keep up with their shite.

A non-reader even knowing the term Essos is highly suspicious, IMO.

I liked looking at the maps as a non-reader.

I agree that it could just be a slightly educated non-reader, but he has some detailed info regardless. I don't give a shite, but Coco, Stu, and iluv flip out about anyone that has even watched the HBO extras.

Seems legit but he is definitely educated as to the world. He had a lengthy post in the who will be standing at the end thread

Jesus, can we at least get some proper pseudo-intellectuals in here? If I am to be rebuked by my "intellectual betters," I'd prefer it be at the hands of a legitimate intelligentsia and not you 3-series, business class, second lieutenant assholes.
After carefully joxying myself in this thread (nice covering those tracks and crafting the political response if found, Psych
), here's my opinion of your opinion.
So which is it? Am I a brilliant bullshitter or am I just good at figuring out where storylines will go, possibly because I've digested thousands of stories through, yes, reading, movies, TV, the fricking campfire, etc.?
It's not really a huge stretch. It was pretty easy to figure out that she wasn't going to give them the dragons, and everyone did figure it out. And it's not as though they would just say "Okay mommy, I'll go with the slaver a-hole." And yes, the smirk on her face as she was making the deal had a lot to do with me being almost certain I was right.
So, the ONLY other assumption is that the dragon she gave them would destroy them. I knew she'd honor the agreement and use her new army in that way because I CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE DIDN'T DO THAT A THOUSAND frickING YEARS BEFORE SHE EVER GOT THERE. Do I really need to be a genius to have guessed that?
Lastly, as we learned from Jorah's character, slavery does not go over well in Westeros. Therefore, Dany showing up with a slave army probably wouldn't inspire a lot of followers. That's why I thought she would "free" them.
As for guessing that Mormont would die this week, the title of the episode was "And now his watch has ended." That was too epic a title to commemorate the fat guy or a bunch of zombie Crows. He's the only Crow whose death warrants that title, and that title could only mean the death of a Crow.
I have not read A Storm of Swords. I've just always been good at investigative thinking. It sure as hell isn't always a gift and I'm equally good at being wrong, but I'm not lying. I have not read that book yet.
Is that from the novels, or was your mind so invigorated by the experience of reading five whole books that you were able to conjure that one up on your own?
But you know what? Uncle Blue is so proud that you runny little twats were able to complete your reading assignments all by yourselves. Here's what I'm going to do. I have my own list as well. Since you love "knowledge" so much, if any one of you comes into the thread to antagonize the non-readers, the day the next book is released, I'm going to read it immediately and come hunting for you wherever you are, flash-spoiling it for you. The OT. More Sports Board. SEC Rant. It doesn't matter, and I'll wait as many years as I have to.
You want knowledge? I'm gonna give it to you, baby.
And don't think getting me banned will stop me. If I should fall, my undead army of faceless men (that's right, 2 Gamey of Throney things combined) will come to spoil it for all of you. We're coming to spoil your souls.
Deal?
Now, the other guy, you might be right about.

He is a reader, I am fairly certain of that. I've noticed the same pattern with him. He'll nail something that is about to happen or will happen and throws a couple nuggets of bullshite in to make it appear as if the former was just a good guess. I don't know why someone would take the time to be a douche but then again I've been on here for near 5 years and nothing surprises me anymore.

Definitely, just read his theories compared to everyone else in that thread. I'm a pretty intelligent person, but no way I would have written something like:
quote:
The whole "don't question me. I know what I'm doing" thing leads me to believe she'll honor her agreement with the slavers, but that they're going to find out that their new pet dragon is a little ornery. Them demanding "the biggest one" seemed like it was supposed to be a funny moment. I think the moral justification for her new army is that she'll have "freed" the slaves.
having only watched the show.
