I haven’t watched a second of Game of Thrones content since the series finale. I swore it off completely. I must tell you, even with knowing the outcome, this show is worth it. Season 1 and season 2 are some of the best hours of television I’ve ever seen.

I just finished season 2. It’s absolutely incredible

Im also incredibly frustrated that for 5 long years, this show was on GOAT trajectory and the two frick heads burned it to the ground.

ETA - I guess the point of my post is to say just give it a watch. Especially if you haven’t watched season 1 and 2 in half a decade. It’s awesome and you shouldn’t let 2 seasons of disaster ruin the entire show. I won’t be finishing the show.. probably stop after season 5

There is no denying that the first four seasons are great television. However, I will never bring myself to rewatch the series due to how poorly the final two seasons were handled by the showrunners.

I felt this way too. But I fired up Season 1 episode 1 and didn’t look back.

I honestly thought I’d never watch it again, but I’m glad I did.

I said the same thing but GF wanted to do a rewatch this year. The quality after season 6 made me irrationally angry all over again. Just a complete disaster.

100% agree. Another series that was fantastic and died quickly.

Agreed. It's like having a wife who's awesome in every way and then suddenly you catch her sucking the pool boys cock.

That escalated quickly.

I envy the people that will be able to binge watch the entire House of Dragons series first before watching Game of Thrones for the first time

I always enjoy my rewatches but I haven’t watched past 6 except maybe once and I’ve never rewatched season 8. I think I rewatched 7 before 8 came out. It’s entertaining but starts losing thrones brutal realism pretty quickly.

It goes from a world where one mistake and you are dead, to a Disney marvel flick where each main character can cut down 100 bad guys and never die. Just an awful joke.

What still irks me the most is how bad arse the white walkers seemed only to be defeated in one episode.

I would probably watch up to season 6 and then imagine your own ending. The first 6 seasons are still good and that's a good ambiguous ending.

Same. I watched the 1st season a year or so ago and loved it, but felt this gnawing at me knowing that all of this was going nowhere and the entire thing was going to be ruined.

Oddly though, I can still watch the first four seasons of Dexter, ending with the season with Trinity. If you assume that's the series finale, it works great.

Was about to say - if you don't mind stopping at the end of Season 6, it's pretty enjoyable. Just a shame there's not much "final" resolution at that point.

Season 7 is... tolerable? Maybe?

Season 8 makes me irrationally angry

I thought the visuals were amazing but was irrationally irritated by 2 things.

How does Jon Snow's party beyond the wall manage to get a raven halfway across the continent to Dragonstone and then Daenerys manage to fly to their rescue all within the span of a few hours?

How does the Iron Fleet have better accuracy than Hawkeye when they hit Rhaegal on 3 straight shots at long range, but then the very next episode they turn into storm troopers and not one of the dozens of scorpions on the ships or parapets manage to hit Drogon?

Lazy writing. Also gotta love how dragon fire up to season 6 just burns stuff but in season 7 and 8, it makes everything explode, including stone walls.

I guess you can pretend that Dany and Jon take their rightful places as co-rulers of Westeros and successfully stop the invasion of the White Walkers. Perhaps you can even add in some pathos where Jon sacrifices himself to defeat the Night King.
