I've never read the books, so I was floored when it happened. I'm so pissed right now.
Me too. I can't believe that just happened.

it's the youngest sister I'm more sympathetic to, I really like her character
Hope she skewers that lil' skidmark Jeoffry or however you spell his name.

I remember after reading it I threw the book across the room!!

It was very upsetting, but the awesomeness of what should be the final scene next week will make up for it (if they don't skimp on the budget again).

When I first read it, I was waiting for somebody to go rescue and escape with Ned because that's what happens in most books.

I really thought arya was going to break free and hopefully chop off the head of the man about to kill Ned. I thought True Blood was quick to kill a good character, but shite! GOT killin' 'em off in season one!? I hate Joffrey.

I despise Sansa but remind myself she's really young and very naive. Joffrey is the one to hate.

yea, I wasn't sweating it at all b/c usually on tv shows you don't kill of a main character. Somebody saves them!

Arya might be my favorite character. Her story really takes off in the second book/season

I have a lot of favorite characters and she's certainly one, along with Jon, Bran, the Hound and Tyrion.

Great series. There hasn't been much of the supernatural so far...it's been pretty standard medieval stuff. Can't believe Bean got offed. My GF and I just turned the TV off in silence. This definitely has me hooked. Really rooting for Robb Stark to frick up Jamie now. Can't wait for next week.
ETA: Does Cersei realize that she has unleashed a monster? Or was she behind this whole thing to begin with? Seemed like she tried to stop it.

And the great thing... That wasnt even the finale, more oh shite moments to come!

I really hope they nail the last scene like the book did.

I loved how Cersei tried to make Joffrey change his mind after he announced his verdict on Ned. She knows what Joffrey is too stupid to understand. By executing Ned Stark, he has just united all the lands of the North against him. And, unbeknownst to them, Jamie Lannister is now in the custody of Robb and Catelyn Stark.
shite just got real.
shite just got real.

They really nailed his casting. I would imagine with Ned being dead there is no stopping for Robb now... no way to stop this thing from going into all out war.
They did that with a lot of the characters including the secondary ones.
Maester Aemon is one of them.
