Both Season 1 and Season 5 are just so unreal that crazy shite like this could actually happen. There must be something in the Minnesota water. These stories and plot lines are ridiculously amazing. Can't get enough of Fargo. Just waiting to see what bat shite crazy things will happen next.
As great as Season 5 is, I'm still giving the edge to Season 1 as the GOAT. I'm currently rewatching Season 1 simultaneously with Season 5.

Excellent analysis. It's nice to see Fargo regain it's footing after a couple of off seasons.

Is every season independent of the other seasons? I've just watched 1 and 2 so far
The Indian in S2 was the head Indian in charge of the Fargo mafia in S1, 25 years later.

Geez that was a weird episode but great ending. Was Linda all in her head? Started to suspect that when she was in the Diner all alone. This season has been a great return to the quality of seasons 1 and 2.

quote:I think that Linda is real, but the feminist utopia camp was Dot's dream (and a clever device to tell her backstory in a quick and simplistic way). To be honest, I was relieved that it wasn't real and we didn't have to go on with that version of Linda and her Amazon Camp. I was afraid the series had taken a sharp turn for the worst. Now I'm looking forward to her finding the real Linda and seeing what she's really like.

Another fabulous episode- thought that whole sequence was real as well until that truck hit her.
Munch gonna frick Gator up- thought he might have end him when he setup the fake rocking chair.
- The old lady son thought he was going to get paid

Munch coming after the old lady's son with an axe was another movie call back.

While given the “quirky” nature of the show I could see how the weird feminist camp would fit….but I agree that I think the plot was so much better served by making it a dream. I know I’ve had those weird dreams that seem very realistic yet have some completely obscure part - ie “like you can’t just tell us what you need you have to build a puppet” - that complicates you doing something.
I was kinda dismayed that Gator killed the old lady. Was kinda happy that munch had taken on the greedy son. I’m sure he’ll get revenge.
One question I have for Fargo vets (of seasons 2-4). The movie and season one both centered around a main “protagonist” who was deeply flawed and actually a bad person. So they weren’t supposed to get away with it or live happily ever after.
In this season, Dot actually seems to be someone we are and should 100% root for, who is good and virtuous. Do seasons 2-4 have a main character who is for lack of a better term good? Or is this something new for this season? Or are we maybe being mislead?

I don’t want to sound like an infamous swine-monikered poster, but what if Nadine/Dot turns out to be actually a formerly evil person (who maybe seduced Ham, killed Linda), saw the evil of her ways and tried to go straight, but slipped in the PTA meeting and showed her true self?

When Hollywood says, "based on a true story", it's almost a certainty that little of what is depicted has any resemblance to the actual events.
Heck, they take liberties with actual historical and well-documented events.
The reveal I'm waiting for is where and how Dot was trained in her skills.

The claim at the beginning of the episodes that it is a true story are completely false...just an homage to the movie.

I thought that the last episode was the weakest of the season. It set up some big things, but it was meh otherwise IMO.

I'm assuming you're joking. But just in case you aren't, I want to make sure you know that all of the Fargo stories are fiction 100%. The disclaimer at the beginning saying that everything is true is simply to immerse you in the story. None of this ever happened. Don't take my word for it, you can look it up.

Bump. Season 1 was outstanding- just as advertised.
Season 2 turned a little too Tarantino for my taste, but it was ok.
Just started Season 3

Do you mean episode 7?
I just watched episode 8 tonight and…wow, lot to unpack, some of which I am not really sure about.
