Frasier Reboot on Paramount (spoilers)

The first two episodes have dropped.
They were entertaining. The writing and supporting cast don’t seem as sharp, but there is potential there. Had a few good laughs. Kelsey Grammar is back to form.
He’s taken a job in Boston to be closer to his son, who dropped out of Harvard to become a fire fighter. Trying to recapture the dynamic between Frasier and Martin. Niles and Daphne’s son is a freshman in college, and has moved in with them as well. There are a few other side characters which seem interesting.
I’m looking forward to watching the rest of the season. I don’t think they’ll be able to recreate the magic of the original, but it’s still better than most of what’s being put out.

Need Niles and Daphne and you know they won’t do it because Grammar is a big republican. Many of his friends have black listed him.

I know literally nothing about this reboot other than what you've just posted in the OP. If memory serves, at the very end of hte original show he got on a plane to Chicago to follow a woman there, is that addressed in this new run?

Just watched the first two episodes, better than my initial expectations, I'll continue to watch weekly.
Does answer some questions from the bridge at the end of Frasier to today but you can tell they're going to slowly bring more info to light. A lot of potential for the show, liked the cast quite a bit. It's obviously not original Frasier level but still better than a lot that's currently airing.
Touching tribute to John Mahoney as well.

Yes, they address it in the first five minutes of the show.
He wound up with a TV show in Chicago that brought him national notoriety, but things didn’t work out with the woman.

I wonder how Lilith took that news?

Haven't seen it yet, but I do believe she makes a appearance this season. Lilith does as well

Evidently he's not on the James Woods/Kevin Sorbo end of the spectrum, because the network that is known for its "woke" programming gave him his own show.
Hyde Pierce has said that he enjoyed playing Niles but doesn't see the need to return to that character.

Watched episode one.
The laugh track is out of control.
But I’m not sure I’ve seen a pilot start out so shaky and then get halfway decent in one episode.

Episode two.
So one of the inconsistencies in Cheers and Frasier was that in Cheers he said his dad was dead.
They dealt with that inconsistency in Frasier, and now they’re using that storyline here. That’s fairly clever.

I thought the scenes at the bar with Freddy’s co-workers were among the highlights of the episode. They set it up well earlier when Frasier asked why he was getting help to move from his cousin,
rather than his buddies from work. He got a good shot at Lillith in with his explanation. Also a good call back later when Frasier referenced them not noticing “they had the same last name”.
Hopefully in a show down the road a guest star will inform Freddy of his father’s own behavior, giving Frasier a little comeuppance.
I’ve read articles where they mention having guest stars on the series, but only want to do it “if it makes sense within the story”.

can you explain this? How did they "deal with it" in Frasier, and how is now being used in the new reboot

When Sam visited Frasier in Seattle and meets Martin, he points out that Frasier told them his dad was dead (in Cheers).
Frasier basically explained it away that he and his dad were on the outs at the time. Now Freddy has done basically the same thing.
Like a few posts above mentioned, I bet they use a guest appearance to call Frasier out on that.

Totally agree. Nothing was really landing with me until Frasier showed up at Freddy's apartment to cook dinner. Then it flipped a switch into a classic Frasier episode with a dinner gone awry, supporting characters showing up unannounced, and general misunderstandings. The second episode was even better.
Freddy basically being a young version of Martin makes him an acceptable foil for Frasier, and is a nice tip of the cap to John Mahoney's character. I'm looking forward to watching every week.

This reminds me of watching the That 70's Show pilot where it was basically kids shouting punchlines over a loud laugh track. I thought it would get cancelled before the 2nd episode.
