Saw this trailer ahead of F1. Holy shite the audience either groaned and or almost laughed with confusion after it played.
Kind of amazing to me studios are just willing to bunt money for Jordan Peele at this point.

Someone in another thread called it The Substance for men and I have to agree

It's taken longer than it should but I think most people have figured out what a complete hack Jordan Peele is.

You know why...

So is Peele the new M. Night or something?
Posted on 6/29/25 at 3:52 pm to Zap Rowsdower
He's not as good. M. Night has done several good movies. Peele did a half of a good movie.

That was one fricked up Gatorade commercial

Whatever connection Hollywood once had, or thought they had, with the bulk of the movie going audience...
They don't.
They don't.

Final Destination is the product for those people.
Peele is trying to make art, and I say this as a person who isn't a big fan of his work.
Also, the movie is produced by....Jordan Peele's production company.
Even saying that, "elevated horror" has been making money lately. I doubt this movie is that expensive. Nope had a production budget of $68M and grossed over $171M worldwide, so I imagine it was quite profitable.

As I said, "Hollywood". Look at TOHO. Better story writing and technology seems to be the way to go, but we're still getting early 2000's big blockbuster projects.

Why do you say this in a thread about an elevated horror movie that likely doesn't have a huge budget?
This movie seems to have little, if anything, in common with early 2000s blockbuster projects.

Did anyone see Peele's take on "The Twilight Zone"? It was unwatchable
Posted on 6/29/25 at 5:21 pm to Jack Ruby
Do people here know what "produced" means in this context?

You have the attention span of a goldfish.
Holy hell.
*I* said Hollywood has lost connection with the movie going audience.

"Hollywood". Look at TOHO.
Do you not follow the progression here?
Hollywood is out of sync with its audience
Smaller studios , or foreign studios, making profitable movies on smaller budgets, while Hollywood Inc. continues to focus on bomb after bomb after bomb, chasing that blockbuster dragon that they can't seem to catch.
I know you've programmed yourself to not see it, but we're actually agreeing on something. Smaller studios with lower budget movies are making money. Even if it's something like ...'Him'.
Holy hell.

No, but he developed the reboot. He has to take some blame for it being crap

You skipped a whole lot of the post. What I actually said in response to Hollywood has lost connection with the movie going audience.

How many legitimately quality movies has Toho made the past 20 years other than Godzilla Minus One?
quote:
Hollywood is out of sync with its audience
a. As I said, this was produced by Peele's company, not "Hollywood"
b. As I said, his movies have been profitable, so they're "in sync" with enough people (at least so far) to be economically efficient decisions.

You're making the argument for this movie, which is basically what I argued (and you clearly ignored)
This movie is made by a small studio that makes profitable movies
quote:
I know you've programmed yourself to not see it, but we're actually agreeing on something. Smaller studios with lower budget movies are making money.
Then why did you say
quote:
Whatever connection Hollywood once had, or thought they had, with the bulk of the movie going audience...
They don't.
In response to a trailer of this movie produced by a small studio that is likely going to be profitable?

Well, if Hollywood won't back his BS movies anymore, he can always call on "big brotha" Tyler Perry to throw some funds his way. Tyler Perry has made a fortune off of BS movies. Smh
