It was meant to be more irony as I am enjoying it.

They said they anticipate paying a dividend in the Calendar year. Disney's year begins in Sept. So they won't see that until next fiscal year and they didn't say how much. It will most definitely be less than they were paying prior to the Pandemic. It was close to 2% with current projections it may not even be 1%. This was to address Peltz's play for a board seat. Smoke and mirrors.

Any amount is better than none correct? And stock values are based on the future health of the company meeting certain expectations. Even the mention of a modest dividend with future hope of increase is already seeing the stock value go up. Which for an investor is a good thing. Not sure what the issue is here.

Meh. Obviously, you're correct in a literal sense.

However, the wisdom/optics depends on investor expectations. Some investors prefer growth over income. And if you were paying X amount, then suspended and are going to resume at half that, it looks bad on the face of it.

I completely agree.

Regardless of your thoughts on Disney, the huge majority of the drop is due to cricket streaming rights in India sooooo….

Those cricket streaming rights were a big part of the reason the Fox deal was deemed a good idea.

You should do an investigation as to why.

I have a feeling a huge chunk is due to free trials ending. I know Verizon offers/offered a free year, I'm sure others did as well.

Then there are probably a bunch of folks that just didn't think it was worth it.

Then there's the folks that are sending a message.

Won't be long before the folks who prepaid for however many years prior to D+ being launched have to decide if they want to start paying every month for it.

Yeah that seems like a drop in the bucket and could have any number of explanations. But if it continues then I’m sure they’ll adjust and address it.

The U.S. numbers are a pretty easy explanation. There was a 3 year bundle on launch in November 2019. The bundle was like $4 per month for the first 3 years, pretty good price. The bundle obviously expired in 2022, and that likely accounts for a significant amount of the U.S. drops

I’m sure my boss would be fine with me losing 2.4 million customers if the profits from the remaining customers exceeded the previous year

Except they lost a Billion dollars during those 3 months. So there is no profit to report in the streaming sector for Disney

They also are letting 7,000 employees go

And forcing all employees to return to the office, as well as move an entire division to Orlando from Cali. Hoping many more will refuse and quit

And now theyve brought Tim Allen back as Buzz, after their failed Chris (woke) Evans experiment

That movie failed because it was a dumb, poorly marketed spin off that nobody asked for. Only a select few idiots actually get triggered by a three second scene involving gays

Replacing Allen for Evans was the big thing. Easily could have introduced Evans as ANOTHER character. Guess they didn't want to spend the money. Too bad.

No one asked for the gays in the story. Yet Disney had to Disney it up for clout.

Do you really expect OP to do any kind of actual research into the things he mindlessly babbles about?

It's irrelevant that the loss can be attributed to cricket rights in India or not. The fact that their streaming business model relied on sustained growth means this was disastrous news (and their domestic streaming numbers were pretty lackluster). The Mouse went all in on the streaming side of things and, so far, that's come a cropper. Trying to explain this away as anything other than Disney has shot itself in the foot and doesn't seem able or willing to fix things is laughable.
