"Whatever"

Wait a second, superheros are supposed to be optimistic and hopeful....

Instead she's all sarcastic and jaded....

That totally subverted my expectations!

What an amazingly genius idea! I'm totally blown away.

And this is the property, with the irreverence that seems core to this version, that you think will do this?

I haven't read the comic, but I've heard it's a much darker tone. This isn't meant to be silly fun like Superman. At least that's the rumor.

Sasha Calle played it better. What a waste of potential.

I’ll just watch an old Kesha video on YouTube. Looks to be about on par with this.

I’ll save an hour and 56 minutes of my time.

Yep. Totally from the "I'll ruin your mythos in a minute, baby!" school of simply awful director ideas.

And don't think the 'whatever' replacing The American Way isn't meant as a swipe to own the chuds.

Because it absolutely is.

This is an adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow. She's apparently a jaded character, so it's staying faithful to the source material. Isn't that what a lot of you always complain about?

Gunn's Superman was terrible. I suspect this will also be terrible.

The real question, though, is will she protect a Popeyes from the bad guys?

Meh. It's just not a character I care about. I barely even remember the 80's version with Helen Slater. I guess the success of Wonder Woman led to them doing this, but a lot of fatigue has set in and most of the female-led films have failed.

I'm hopeful.

Superman was fun but needed some tweaks (Ma & Pa not being country bumpkins, for one).

You mean this?

Woman of Tomorrow: (Volume 1) was a limited series, published by DC Comics. It ran from 2021 until 2022.

No. This is modern day bilgesnipe trash, for the "modern audience". Comics written in the past 10 - 15 yrs or so had already started going to hell. Written by full tilt #MeToo retards. You just made things worse. Thanks.

That's fine and all, but you said it was a terrible director idea so I was just correcting you. They're adapting a popular comic story.

A limited run that was 'popular'? Pressing X to doubt.

And the director doesn't have to adhere to any damn thing regarding source material. How are you 'correcting' me? They can absolutely screw up even a bad story and make it worse.

*And I take it you missed my Taika Waititi reference, with Thor Love and Thunder, huh?

We all know you don't like Gunn. I was simply saying this is an adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow. She's apparently a jaded alcoholic in that comic.

I like Gunn when he stays in his lane. Same with Taika. But choosing an off balance, whacky, “whatever“ version of Supergirl is so James Gunn.

I’ve never claimed to be a comic book savant, but I do know that not all comic runs are equal. Some are simply better than others, and the ones which seem to rank the worst are the ones that have the shortest runs. I think there’s a very obvious reason why James Gunn picked this limited series for his source.

We're well past the point all these "edgy" characters have major Poochie energy.

They reek of out touch people chasing a trend that's at least 10 years stale, in a very obviously forced manner.
