The reason he’s out there is because it’s Christmas. He’s reconciling with his family over Christmas, there’s a Christmas party, Christmas theme’s everywhere. His fricking wife’s name is Holly for crying out loud! It’s a Christmas movie, the guy who made it even says it is.

It’s a Wonderful Life is as much a Christmas movie as Die Hard is.

There's Christmas motifs in literally every scene. The entire story takes place during Christmas. The parties they go to are all Christmas parties. There are Christmas decorations in almost every shot, scenes of characters wrapping presents and shopping for presents. Even the fricking hooker has presents and a tree.

Merry Christmas, buddy.

I agree it's a Christmas movie but even if you don't it's a great movie and it holds up well today and is very rewatchable.

No, it still works. If Die Hard is a Christmas movie, so is EWS.

Neither is. It's just a meme.

I am on team "It's a Christmas movie"

Then you are on the wrong team.

Christmas movies... are about Christmas, not just set at Christmas.

While being set at Christmas, Die Hard isn't about Christmas.

But it's also a shame that you are just now watching this awesome movie.
And, as others have said, skip 2 and go straight to With a Vengeance. Although 2 did have John Amos in it, so there's that.

Did I say that? No. All I am saying is that no one considered it a Christmas movie until a few years ago when it became the edgy thing to do on the internet. And if you’re like me and were alive and old enough to remember the 80s or even the 90s, you already know this. Stop pretending like it’s been considered a Christmas movie all along. Because we both no it hasn’t.

If you can take the Christmas elements out of the movie and it wouldn’t drastically change the movie it ain’t a Christmas movie. Make sure to tell your GF as well. I would hope no dude over the age of 30 had to learn this from an internet poast.
