No country for old men is untouchable for me. Perfect movie in the running for best movie in the 2000s (not just the decade)

Hail Caesar is pretty underrated. Love that movie.

But Burn after reading probably fits the best as my favorite

It’s tough, because I love almost all of their movies. It might change from time to time.

1. No Country
2. Raising Arizona
3. Fargo

I like most of their movies, but there's an easy top 3 for me:

Miller's Crossing
No Country

I don't think that Hudsucker Proxy aged particularly well and they feel "off".

Its a spoof like O'Brother but better. Those are timeless. I don't see how time can diminish it...people still watch Buster Keaton.

Lebowski
No Country
Raising Arizona
Fargo

Sneaky pick: Hudsucker Proxy

Lebowski and Raising Arizona might be the two most quotable movies I’ve ever seen.

I've been on a Coen brothers kick recently and revisited Fargo, Big Lebowski, Man who wasnt there, Miller's Crossing, and Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Of course I've seen True Grit, O Brother, and No Country. And im ashamed to say ive never seen A serious man, Barton Fink, Burn after reading, Raising Arizona. I also heard Hail Caesar was good.

True Grit #1
Ballad of Buster Scruggs #2

The Big Lebowski has always been overrated to me.

Big Lebowski and No Country for me. I miss having Lebowskifest here in Louisville.

These are their clear top two movies. Oh Brother, Fargo, are True Grit are barely, but clearly below those.

I hope I convey this right-

Lebowski is the ultimate “Coen brothers movie” that encapsulates who they are as storytellers/artists.

No Country for Old Men is the best movie they’ve made as filmmakers.

It is. I think seeing it way more times as any of their other movies, had some bearing on why I didn't list it as my favorite. I've probably watched Blood Simple and Fargo four or five times since they came out 40 and 28 years ago. Since No Country came out 17 years ago, I know I've seen it 15 or 20 times. I still have cable. If it's on, and I know it, I'm watching.

Even though I saw Blood Simple once in the last six months, I may be thinking nostalgically about it and Fargo. I haven't seen the Fargo movie in a while, but I've watched the series all along. The creation of the series definitely figures into my ranking it so high. I'd sort of like a hot mom having a hot daughter. It just deserves a little more appreciation.

Blood Simple (1984)
Fargo (1996)
No Country for Old Men (2007)

Raising Arizona is perfection. To hear Edgar Wright gush over it and its companion piece Evil Dead II and how it inspired Hot Fuzz is worth it.

True Grit are remakes

Meh. The Coen Bros’ True Grit is an adaptation of the novel, not a remake of the John Wayne film. That’s an important distinction IMO, and it is unique enough to stand on its own.
