Something odd that I noticed about the final season before they handed Mayberry over to Mayberry RFD...

The theme of the final season seemed to be "Be happy with who you are". Not so noticeable when you're watching it week by week, but if you binge it the message stands out. Goober meets his old coworker and finds out that he's a huge success while Goober is still at the gas station, Howard goes off to live a life of leisure on an island, Emmett closes the fix-it shop and sells life insurance, Aunt Bee takes flying lessons even though she's terrified... it goes on and on. Everyone makes some big life change and then realizes they were happier where they were.

Also the episode where they were having a Christmas party at the jail and Ben Weaver wanted to join in so he kept trying to get arrested and Andy kept letting him go.

Really a fantastic christmas epsiode.

In addition to all the classics named already, I enjoyed the baseball one where Andy had to act impartial as umpire and ended up hosing Mayberry on the final out

Mountain Wedding was one of my favorites. You can’t beat Barney in a wedding dress.

Mr. McBeevee was always a favorite.

In Barney's Sidecar, I liked Andy's speech where he invoked Bert and the Milo brothers. Well done.

"A Date for Gomer" is another gem. Barney and Andy fix up Gomer on a blind date with Mary Grace, Thelma Lou's rather plain cousin. Gomer keeps asking what she looks like; Andy and Barney go on and on about how she's "so nice" and "smart as she can be" and "real nice" while dodging the question.

It's an inside joke at work when someone asks about a matter. If you don't want to answer, just say it's going "nice, real nice".

It certainly is. Probably my favorite Christmas episode from any show.

Man in a Hurry - Barney keeps repeating “go home, have a little nap, then over to Thelma Lou’s for TV...yep, that’s the plan”. Guy yells “for the love of Mike, just GO ALREADY!!”

Citizens Arrest - too many to name

One where Gomer gets fired and stays with Andy for a few days - keeps everybody awake

Gomer’s First day in the Marines - when Gomer puts on the Sgt’s dress blues

Darlings have dinner at Andy’s. “Bread!!!” “Taters!!” “Meat!!

This all day for me.

Great Christmas episode, especially when you see him outside the window singing Away in a Manger. Followed shortly thereafter by Barney bursting through the door in a Santa costume yelling "ho ho ho"

To me , the funniest scene in the series is when Barney tries to recite the Preamble to the Constitution

Opie killing the mama bird then raising the babies. Ange gave him a little tough love and made him sleep with the window open so he could hear the babies crying for their mama.

My favorite episodes:

Gold Truck

The episode when Barney and Gomer keep letting the escaped convicts out of jail after Andy catches them.

Side car episode

Fun girls episode with Barney doing the Tango with Big Maude and Andy trying to get the gun.

Any Episode with Floyd Lawson, Proprietor (I swear he must have done quaaludes)

I tried to decide long ago what is my favorite episode and I decided this is the one. Still hard to decide, so many good episodes.
On the sheriff office rooftop:
Gomer: "We need to call the police"
Barney: " We ARE the police."

I always liked Allen Melvin as the tough guy along with a lot of other characters he played.
That guy played in everything, best know as Sam the butcher on the Brady Bunch.

that episode has one of my all time favorite lines from Andy

when gomer comes in the court house after buying some new clothes for the date. Andy looks at him and says "Gomer ,your hair is dripping"
