Always thought this was a solid movie series but I’m watching it for the first time since having my daughter and there’s a few parts that got to me because I know eventually I’ll be going through the same thing

I always wondered why my grandfather (who served in the pacific in WWII and wasn’t one for showing emotion) left the room whenever George is sitting in bed the night before the wedding, flashing back to when Annie was a baby and all through her life. Now I know because that got to me

I've seen those movies at least a dozen times, and I never fail to laugh on rewatch.

They’re hilarious. Brian’s parents dogs hating George cracks me up every time.

I know this goes without saying, but Steve Martin is just an unbelievable entertainer. His movies are enjoyable at every stage of life. I laughed at father of the bride when I was younger and now lose it at very different scenes as a father of daughters.

Parenthood is another great Steve Martin rewatch after becoming a parent.

I know what you mean. my girls are teens and I know the day is coming. More and more, I find myself missing those days when they were little.

Honestly Steve Martin is the only sane person in the film. Someone did the math, and that wedding in 1991 would have cost 150 thousand dollars, which adjusted for inflation would be 217 thousand dollars. Annie Banks is a spoiled bitch. Didn’t even bother saying goodbye to her father who did all that shite for her. Steve Martin is going to be eating ramen for a few years to pay off that wedding, and that bitch doesn’t give a single frick.

Yeah it was $250 a head and they had a guest list of over 500. I nearly shite when I did the math

When his daughter turned into the little girl and said "we are getting married"... never understood until I had a daughter. Now I get it. I still look at my daughters like she is 4.

One of my favorite moments is when George and Nina are arguing about how she’s too young and Nina says “I was younger than Annie when we got married” and he says “that was different”

outside of looking at Brian's dad's checkbook and turning down their help to pay for the wedding as well, i agree with this.

Ironically, my in-laws stopped by for a visit this last weekend and we were tring to find something to watch they hadn't seen (they don't know how to use netflix or HBO even though they have my login) so we saw the new FotB on HBOMax and offered that up and they said they'd rather see this one again.

my wife and her dad are pretty close and they both get sooooo sappy during this movie it always cracks me up.

my teenagers were in there saying "that's ridiculous. just elope. no you don't have to have the swans. don't buy the $1200 cake. just use fake flowers. George is right. "

I loved that movie as a kid when it came out, and I only enjoy it more now that I am a parent.

I became my dad's favorite son when I was the only one whose wedding he didn't have to pay for

He owned a shoe company $$$

The fiancee and I watched both of them last weekend. Such good movies. Both of them. As far as Steve Martin, he played the best dad. And dude kills a banjo if you haven't heard/seen him play, I recommend checking it out.

Not sure they could make the school shooting scene today, but that whole bit is so damn funny. His fantasy about being acknowledged by his valedictorian son at graduation just kills me at this point in my life.

Definitely a move that ages so much better. When I first watch it, it was fine but nothing great. As i've gotten older and more i've watched it, the funnier and more I appreciate how good it is.

I love those two movies. Just so good and any parent can relate. It’s just a sweet movie.
