I was friends with Harry Anderson when he was a street performer in San Francisco. He was a good street magician and also did 3 card Monty to rip off the tourists.
One morning I saw Harry sitting on a curb next to a bus stop drinking a bottle of Jack Daniel's I walked up to him and asked him how things were going.
He said "not very good because I got punched in the nose last night by an angry tourist who I tried to rip off playing 3 card Monty." He said as soon as he finished his bottle of Jack Daniel's he was hopping on the next bus and going to LA.
I sat down next to him and said since that's the case I'll help you finish the bottle so you can leave sooner. We both laughed and finished the bottle of Jack Daniel's then Harry jumped on the next bus.
That was the last time I saw Harry until I saw him on The Merv Griffin Show.
I like to think that if I hadn't helped Harry finish that bottle of Jack Daniel's he would have been too drunk to make it to LA.
Here's a video of Harry on the Merv Griffin Show.

I love Frasier (even though Kelsey Grammar is a POS father to his real-life kids). Lately, I've been watching reruns on Cozi TV. It is brilliantly written, but still has the ability to make Frasier the butt of all the jokes (even with his holier-than-thou attitude). Making his (and Niles') father a policeman working his beat, plus Roz and Daphne supporting players was pure genius.

You mean you don't have a Tier 4. LOL

Since everyone is naming a bunch of shows I also liked Malcom in the Middle and Get A Life. Chris Elliott is a great comedian.
Here's an episode of Get A Life for those who have never watched it.

Wings is better than Friends
Posted on 4/24/26 at 2:06 pm to Dawglovertoo
IMO, both Wings and Frasier deserve to be in the 1a pantheon (I would argue both ahead of friends).
Simpsons should be added to the pantheon, along with The Office.
But there's just no doubt that Seinfeld and The Simpsons rewrote everything.
I also really enjoyed:
Who's the Boss
Growing Pains
Sanford and Son
The Jeffersons
I'm not sure if The Wonder Years qualifies as "comedy", but it does qualify as the greatest show of all time.

Wings. Early seasons were marred by bad writing but it got better.
