Number one you are conflating solider and warrior but number 2 how is it subverting to have a thin female die instantly on the battlefield?

That would be consistent with what would happen in that time and in the universe of homers story no?

And you never will. because like everything you talk about, you haven't seen it. So no one gives a shite what your opinion on it is or why you can't understand it.

If not the cast, if not the armor or the ships or the changes to the story, where do they draw the line?

None of these things automatically disqualify a movie from being good. Maggie Gyllenhaal was a terrible Rachel Dawes and had a much more significant role in TDK than Page in Odyssey and it's still arguably the greatest super hero movie ever. Armor/costume inaccuracies is common in movies, Braveheart being a prime example. Braveheart is still a badass movie. Forrest Gump, Jaws, Shawshank Redemption, The Shining, Fight Club... I could list 100 movies that had drastic changes to the story. Changes to the story does not mean it's not good. Numerous of his changes were an improvement on the story.

If it doesn’t treat the source material with respect, it’s trash.

Whats your opinion on O Brother Where Art Thou?

The whole point of art is interpretation.

You should learn to appreciate different takes on stories. It is what allows them to be timeless.

Imagine if George Lucas had shut down Spaceballs because it didnt respect the source material

You sure were all into Foundation, which was 10x more disrespectful to the source the The Odyssey ever dreamed of being. Your YouTube overlords probably didn't tell you to hate it though so you looked past all the woke in it.

Sinon wasn’t in the Odyssey, Elliot isn’t a male.

First of all, I have not read all of foundation, though I did buy the book. Secondly the story which was presented on screen is interesting. But you do see the same pattern don’t you? Race and gender swapping for identity brownie points. I would much rather see a true adaptation. Wouldn’t you? Regardless I’m still a fan of Lee Pace and Jared Harris. They’re really good actors.

The Apple TV version of foundation has had its problems and that’s from people who truly like it. I’m just looking for something worthwhile to watch TV. I don’t even follow anybody on YouTube who has ever mentioned it pro or con.

So you said all of that just to say it's ok for you to watch a woke show that is disrespectful to the source but you can't for the life of you understand how someone could like the Odyssey that isn't woke and shows more respect to the source. Got it.

You see how you're being a hypocrite right?

This part is really gets me.

According to you, if it's not true to the source, it's trash. Got it. That's fair. But if it's not true to the source but you want to watch it, it's not trash, it's just something interesting and worthwhile. But it's not ok for people to feel that The Odyssey is interesting and worthwhile.

My brother in Christ here you are throwing a tantrum cause a movie which has received massive praise from critics and fans alike isn't 100% fully faithful to the source materiel. A movie you haven't and refused to watch by the way

I bet he hasn't read the Odyssey in full either. just selective outrage for nothing but attention from people who don't even like him.

Of foundation? Not really.

Of the Odyssey? I would definitely watch someones attempt at an adaptation 1 for 1 with the books, but im not gonna pretend it would be better than this movie. It could be, its just as likely that it wouldn't be. I guess we'll see when Elon releases the Grok cut of the Odyssey which one is the better film. Judging from the preview, i think Nolan's will be better.

I mean I vaguely remember most of it from high school but even then if you're going to get this posted about one adaption not being 100% faithful then you should do the same with literally every other adaptation that isn't

Unless there's another reason you're actually mad but don't want to fully admit because it makes you look bad

No tantrum here, very mild, actually.

Isn’t 100%?

Delusion has a new standard folks!

I see the cast, *ships, armor… all I need is to see, brother.

Cant see the forest for the trees

quote:

Why It Happens

You get so up close to the individual elements (the trees) that you lose perspective on the grander scheme (the forest). This often happens when you're:

Overwhelmed: Dealing with a massive to-do list where each task feels urgent

Over-analyzing: Obsessing over minor mistakes or tiny components rather than assessing the project's overall direction.

Too close to the problem: Being so directly involved in the minutiae that objective thinking goes out the window.

I think youve got a little B and C going on.
