First Nolan movie I'm excited for in years. Sounds like he's avoiding his past missteps. Give me a well-done war film.

I've read a few people saying the characters are pretty boring. That's the biggest gripe, apparently.

A couple more:

This is visceral, big-budget filmmaking that can be called Art. It's also, hands down, the best motion picture of the year so far. Full Review | Original Score: A

Let other directors play with toy soldiers and computer effects. This is big-time, old-school filmmaking. Dunkirk isn't overdone. It's simply done epically. Full Review | Original Score: 4.5/5

Chris Hunneysett/Daily Mirror-This is Nolan's finest film to date, an immersive and emotional masterpiece and a superb return to form.

Got tickets to a Saturday showing at an IMAX 70mm with laser.
It's impossible to state how excited I am.
Only things that come close in recent memory are The Force Awakens and Inception.

Damn - that's high praise given how good Memento and The Prestige were.

Nolan has done it again, and many of the critics who have written reviews so far are calling this his best film to date. Believe the hype. I have seen this film and it is absolutely spectacular.

I saw a special military screening on Saturday night at Pearl Harbor. My spoiler-free review is on the first or second page of the forum.

Armond White giving it a negative review is a given. I thought the other reviews would be so over the top great it might push the final score over 100%. I could still see this happening.

How do you feel it will play with the GA? I have a friend that caught an early screening and he says people were very mixed about the film. Some loved it, and some were very bored. He mentioned that he couldn't even remember any of the characters names, that's how little character development there is.
