Well, this episode was better much due to the dowager and Mrs. Crawley. I certainly hope they don't kill off Maggie Smith. They need her badly right now. I'm not sure how far the racial thing is going to go and I'm not sure it's going to be as interesting as they think it will be. Again, I found myself a bit bored as opposed to hanging onto every word. I so hope this show gets going again, but there's just nothing compelling going on. Maybe they'll give the dowager her own show.

Yeah, the racial thing doesn't have nearly the impact on the people watching this show as it probably had in the 1920's.
The dowager/crawley feud is fun to watch.
it looks like they almost went down the rape road again with james and that girl.

Surely, we're not going to have two rape issues going on. That would be way too much.
The racial thing might have more impact if presented differently. Perhaps, it will build. So far, there hasn't been a huge reaction the the guy. They all went with the program for the performance and, only Mary, saw the kissin', so far.

There's not much further you can go with the same family of characters unless the children grow up a la "North and South" (swayze ACW version)and follow the children/grandchildren through the depression era and the rise of the reich in the next decade. If they make it to the 30's it could be interesting enough...but the 20's meh...
The WW1 seasons were amazing, and even last season was great though we all knew Matthew wasn't coming back. Also I just can't get past the fact that not a single one of them has aged much. The first episode took place the day after Titanic sunk in 1912...it is no, what, 11 years later? Still watching it though and I am a "fan boy"....but I look forward to Sherlock now more...

I was watching something on Erica Cain recently. Said the character married 11 times on the show. I don't think she'd changed much either.

Wow, there are sensitive nellies somewhere.
My post about rape being frowned upon back in 1922 was deleted.
And that was an anti-rape post.
Wow.

Nothing was deleted. You posted it in the other thread someone started about DA. I think you might be the nervous nelly.

I just read some reviews of Sunday's episode and all of them talked about Edith's pregnancy. I must have missed that somehow.

it was in the letter she got late in the show...you had to read quick.

Ah....I turned around just as she folded it. I thought it was about Michael missing. Had she gone to London to see the doctor?

Yea I had to actually pause the show to catch the letter. Not sure why they cut from it so fast.
Sadly, my interest level in Downton continues to drop. I am almost watching out of routine now. At least FINALLY that stupid love square in the kitchen seems to be ending. I feel like they have been dragging that out with no development for two seasons.

I haven't completely given up on it, but I do find myself doing other things while it's on. That's probably why I missed what was in the letter. I didn't bother to rewind.
As long as it's taping, I'll probably watch, but I might not be as anxious to watch it immediately.
ETA: Just recovered the deleted show and paused on the letter. No way I would have caught that before. It was fast.

yeah, i kinda figured by the way she kept asking if she had any letters... that when she did get one it would be important... that and the fact that she went to the doctor when she rode into town with alfred... and i caught the words " first trimester".

Well, she's been boring as hell and that relationship was boring so maybe she's going to stir things up at DA. We'll see.

Not a great episode, but the best one this season.
