I love Capaldi as the Doctor but I'll miss Clara and am more than a little skeptical about the new companions.

I heard she's solid.
I can't wait for Moffat to hand over the reigns of the show.

Ya know, I didn't feel it. I've seen positive reviews almost everywhere, yet most comments are rather blah or negative. I don't get the love - a few hints of old shows (like the pics and the different screwdrivers) don't really have the power they once did to me.

I've never gotten into Capaldi. And the writing since he took the role has been too meta for my taste. First episode looks like it'll be continuing that way. And I'll still watch.

Moffat has done some amazing work, but I'm also interested in seeing someone new take over.

Didn't care for it at all, or for the new companion.

Same here. Story line was lacking. New companion doesn't have any chemistry. I do like Nardol. A bi-racial lesbian? Taking the social justice Warrior to a new level.

Anyone catch the spin off show? I dvr'd the show and missed it.

Most companions lately have been LGBT in one way or another (river song, captain jack, lizard lady and girl, even Clara at times). They had to up the ante.

FYI, it's all but dead. Unless it gets massive ratings in the US, it's not getting a second season.

On yesterday's episode:

- Not sold on Bill

- Had a feeling as soon as the name was announced that she'd be a lesbian. So brave, BBC.

- I still don't know why they brought Matt Lucas back. Unless we're getting Alfie Boe in an episode, this seems kind of stupid.

- I still love Capaldi

Just a couple of throwaway references she made about it. I remember she supposedly made out with Jane Austen of all people.

I may hate this companion worse than Rose. I'll give it some more time. Maybe it'll come around.

Up until last night she was the worst modern companion.

Tough crowd

But this reminds me of a tangential thought I had. Hopefully the introduction of an openly gay companion means Moffat is taking a break from exploring all of the amazing complications of romantic attachment between mortals and immortals. In case yall didn't get the point, it's really complicated.

Why can't they be friends without diddling each other or one is gay? The BBC is either cramming interracial couples or gay characters as the norm.

FFS. Over here, interracial dating isn't even an afterthought. There's definitely an agenda behind the gay thing (they've admitted as much), but there's no agenda behind the interracial thing.

True but the guy who posted that time traveled from the 1950's, back when it was illegal to marry interracially.
