I mean they have already said the X-men 97 animated series is going to be updated for modern issues.

I always figured it was basically a commentary on racism when it first came out so it was always basically a "social justice" comic, imo. But it was also still pretty mainstream.
But I figured the 97 series was basically going to bring them into the MCU somehow.

I mean he played a high schooler just a few years ago so he should be fine playing a college senior

A while back there was a discussion about the MCU making Professor X and Magneto black to retcon their origins. So rather than Magneto being a victim of the Holocaust, it would be the Rwanda Genocide.
Originally I hated the idea, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. My only concern was that with the mutants they are an obvious parallel to racism so making the main characters black seems a little on the nose.

Wrong. They even said it in this movie. It’s 616.
Which the writers are on record as saying is an easter egg, but it's not canon. 616 was established as the main Marvel comics continuity long before the MCU was even a fever dream.

Yeah but with Wanda having the Maximoff name it would be a bit weird unless Magento is a variant

They have shown her parents multiple times. The MCU Wanda is not the daughter of Magneto.
I mean they could try to retcon it to be closer to the comics, but even in the comics she isn't always his daughter.

Doctor Strange 2 is an Unmitigated M-She-U DISASTER!
If you read into DS2 any sort of feminist agenda, you were already going into the movie seeking out something not to like.
Stephen Strange was the unmitigated hero. And America Chavez’s role was entirely justified. And the villain was a delusional, self-centered chick.
Edit: The movie has its flaws, no doubt. But it’s just knee-jerk, not being able to enjoy anything without first focusing it through a culture war lens, over-analysis to come away thinking it’s woke just because the secondary hero is a chick.

He doesn't really talk about feminist agendas. M-SHE-U is a term he invented a while back to describe the female dominated super hero world, long before they started doing it. It's a running term, and to be honest, isn't completely off base here.
but most of this review is just about the writing and characters

Ah yes the ultra feminist story of a woman upset she can’t see her kids so she decided to do a bit of universal genocide. Bet this guy thinks every movie starting a woman in the MCU is somehow a feminist disaster

He calls it an "unmitigated disaster" but does he mention that it's the #11 all time opening weekend at 185 million or that the second highest movie that weekend only made 9.8 million?
It lapped the field multiple times over. Hell it was partying out back while everyone else hadn't even finished the race yet.
A lot of people here agree that the movie is B tier and has flaws but I can't see anyone calling it a disaster without throwing all credibility out the window.

Does this mean Avatar is the greatest film of all time?

Yeah Strange and Scarlet Witch are really mega draws. Who even needs Iron Man or Captain America when you have...*checks notes* America Chavez and Wong.
This movie has done 600 million already. I'm sure Disney is ready to start packing it up and call it a day with disappointing box office returns like that.

quote:uh, they are. Wanda had an entire TV show. Strange has been in a significant percentage of the MCU. You're desperately reaching by trying to poo poo on that.

She had a Disney+ show.
You're over here trying to act like this movie should have rolled out of bed and already been at 200 million.
He called it an "unmitigated disaster". He didn't call it a troubled film with bad writing. He didn't say it was disappointing from a direction/vision stand point. He called it an unmitigated disaster. Why? Because he's a hack with a gimmick. In no world is a movie that makes that much money a disaster.
You referenced Avatar earlier. Does anyone actually think that's a good movie? No. It took advantage of 3D and looked visually stunning and was a shite storyline with bad acting. But no one is going to call Avatar a disaster.

Bro you’re consistently on this board whining about “wokeism” and posting links to dudes who pander to the wokeism is destroying everything crowd. It’s mind numbingly repetitive

quote:Yeah, that's pretty much the reality. You could shoot two hours of monkeys throwing balls of shite at each other, slap the MCU label on it and it would gross at least 750 mil.

And you know what that means? That's right. Party at your mom's house.
