Wow, tough off the bat. But Nemo is one of the greatest animated movies ever made and one of my favorite films of all time

8 Tangled
9 Princess and the Frog

5 WALL-E
12 Brave

Wow, another toughie. Up may be the more critically claimed, and rightfully so, but nostalgia won't let me vote against Monsters

quote:

3 Toy Story 3
14 Winnie the Pooh (2011)

Toy Story is the only animated movie to make me tear up. It's release being around the same time I graduated high school made it hit home closer than most movies do.

7 Wreck-it-Ralph
Big Hero 6

Haven't seen either

quote:

2 Frozen
15 Ratatouille

This movie is a staple of the current Disney era. It's everywhere.

TS3 wins mercy rule- no more need to vote on it
Incredibles and Finding Nemo also win on mercy rule.

This will help narrow it down a bit for further tallying

I'm working on figuring that out. The response to this one has been great. I'm considering closing this voting tonight, actually, depending on if it picks back up to a certain extent.

Since it's going so quickly, I'd stop this one tonight, then make a new thread for the next bracket tomorrow morning. That gives each one a whole day of voting.

That's what I'll do. I'm also gradually shutting down votes on runaway contests even today

Naaaa...

It was a little sarcasm mixed with truth. There's an old argument on here about Cars making absolutely 0 logical sense in terms of world building.

Yeah, I don't know how I never saw Toy Story 3. Toy Story was my childhood and TS3 came out when I was graduating high school I think. Should have seen it then.

I didn't realize you were that young. but TS3 is the best of the four, for sure.

I remember the trailers for Wreck-it-Ralph being great. I need to check to see if it is on Netlfix. And Big Hero 6 just came out, but those trailers looked great too.

Both are really great movies. I'm a child of the 80s, so WIR is better for me and fits squarely into my wheelhouse since I grew up playing Nintendo and arcade games. It's the perfect mix of plot and nostalgia for me. And John C. Reilly is great.

I had no idea they made a Winnie the Pooh movie.

It's good. Just a solid little WtP movie...nothing special really. But like I said, I always loved WtP growing up, so I dug it.

Nah, definitely don't close this tonight. There are a lot of people who may be away from the board for a day or two...at least give it a few days IMO.

I am pretty much ready to release the Classics Bracket. I have to start another thread to get input for the set up of the other half of the bracket. SO my biggest thing I'm looking at is not clogging up the board too much.

That is key. You could maybe just do this bracket until it's whittled down to four (or eight). Then do the next one the same way. That way, once you had all four brackets with 4/8 films left, you can do a final/Sweet 16 (or 32) one. And once voting is closed, the thread can be anchored so as to not clutter the board.

But definitely give the voting at least a few days so people can get in on it.

ETA: and I mean weekdays. I know I'll be out of dodge all weekend in the woods, so I won't be on TD much, if at all.

What about Monster's, University? Bolt? Planes (probably the bottom seed in any Disney listing)? The original Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were all better than some on this list as well.

Alright, whatever works best for the board

I'll just do my original plan to leave voting open til 11:59 pm CT Friday Night. I will cut off voting for the clear-cut winners still though. Just based on trends, TS3, Nemom, Incredibles will definitely win. WALL-E may close soon as well

FWIW Tide, I'm very interested in this whole thing and very bored today so here's my rough draft for the Renaissance Bracket. I did it solely based on the order of which I would pick them and feel other people would, so there may be few upsets. The top half of the bracket is just so strong compared to the underdogs. Anyways:

Renaissance

1. Lion King
16. Oliver & Company

8. Tarzan
9. Mulan

5. Hercules
12. Emperors New Groove

4. Little Mermaid
13. Hunchback of Notre Dame

6. Aladdin
11. Lilo & Stitch

3. Beauty and the Beast
14. Fantasia 2000

7. Pocahontas
10. Toy Story 2

2. Toy Story 1
15. Rescuers Down Under
