Including in the deal is the rights to their film division. Which means that Disney will own the rights to both X-Men and the Fantastic Four.

This will be good. X-Men and Fantastic 4 will come back to Marvel studios and be done right. Unfortunately Deadpool might no longer be R-Rated which is not good for Deadpool. Maybe just leave it to Fox

An interesting tidbit is that ESPN will now own the Fox Sports networks and regional feeds. Curious how that all shakes out

Hopefully Deadpool 2 will be far enough along that Disney lets that one slip through the cracks and we only have to worry about then fricking up X-Force (which was basically going to be Deadpool 3, and I had very little faith Fox would do well).

I just hope that means the Fantastic Four and X-Men stop getting treated like red-headed step children in the comics.

I don't understand why people keep worrying about the Rated-R aspect of Deadpool. What makes you think Disney would change the formula for that extremely popular and successful movie (and now Franchise)? Please read this to understand that, just because Disney owns a company that puts out movies, it doesn't mean they are going to white-wash everything under those labels:

R-Rated Movies produced by companies owned by Disney

This is terrible news. Only comic book fans think this is a good thing. But hey, you'll finally get to see Wolverine and Iron man exchange quips.

I suppose they could keep the trade name and utilize it for unfamily movies like this.

I hope you are right, but Nerdist did a video about how Fox didn't own the movie rights to Fantastic Four, just the distribution rights.
I am sure it will get worked out, but as of now they still do not fully own the Fantastic Four.

Article from /Film about it.

Seriously.

It has been interesting to see everyone on this board focus ONLY on the comic book thing, which may or may not even work out the way they want it to.

Part of me finds this news good, the other finds it scary that Disney is gobbling up all these companies.
