Disney+, Hulu Merged App to Launch Next Month for Bundle Subscribers, Bob Iger Says

“We remain on track to roll out a more unified one-app experience domestically, making extensive general entertainment content available to bundle subscribers via Disney+,” Iger said on the Mouse House’s earnings call for the September quarter.

...A beta version of the Disney+/Hulu app will launch in December for subscribers of the two-service bundle — giving parents time to set up parental controls, according to Iger, who explained that Disney+ customers will be able to access adult-oriented Hulu content — ahead of the official launch in spring 2024 (around late March). The company expects Hulu on Disney+ to result in increased engagement, greater ad revenue, reduce customer-acquisition costs and lower churn, Iger said.

...Disney offers the price-discounted bundle of Disney+ and Hulu with ads for $9.99 per month and $19.99 per month without ads, but currently customers must use separate apps to stream each one.

Been thinking about cancelling Hulu lately...maybe I'll keep it if I can get a discounted bundle with D+.

Hopefully this helps the functionality of Hulu, because it is pure trash.

This’ll probably make it cheaper for those that have both, not to mention make Disney plus an adult friendly subscription. Only upside for them IMO.

I've had a 30 day trial of Hulu no ads for a week now and I'm pretty underwhelmed. The only things I've really watched is IASIP and X-files.

Can Disney sell all the FX shows to someone else just so we don't have to use Hulu?

How’s this influence the Spotify Premium + Hulu combo of years ago that I still rock?

Can they please merge the ESPN/ESPN+ content too and make it possible to actually find what you are looking for w/o having to check multiple sections or fight the broken search function?

I actually use Hulu to watch the ESPN live stuff because it's way easier and less buggy than the ESPN app. I see people ragging on Hulus interface, but espns is 100 times worse.

If it weren't for King of the Hill, I'd never mess with Hulu.

If I had to guess looking at how they are rolling this out, first to people with the Hulu/Disney+ bundle, they are going to use this as a way to sneak in a price increase without saying it's a price increase. They're just going to force everyone to get the bundle. "Disney/Hulu is $9.99, it's not really a price increase, look at how much more you're getting, you're making money off of us!"

As for your case specifically, a new combined app is probably coming which means re-installing and re-authenticating. They also said they were going to start cutting down on password sharing in November starting with Canada. You might just have to start paying for your own Disney/Hulu.

inhad Hulu with ads and it would frick ip whenever an ad ran. to the point where I couldnt watch it.

Obvious solution was giving them all my money for Hulu without ads.

Hulu has all of the good fx shows, a decent selection of anime, a lot of the shows that were on fox and abc, cheers, etc.

I'm curious as well. I've thought about upgrading my spotify to the duo plan but have kept my hulu bundle, which gets me hulu for free. I'm actually surprised they still are allowing this deal to continue.

I’ve had Hulu since its existence, and finally cancelled a few weeks ago.
