I say no - Ralphie probably wasn't too broken up about it but I don't think he started the fire. Besides - they ruled it an accident.

frick yeah, he did. That fricking bald psychopath. This is the thing about Ralphie. He was an earner. Even in the face of all the shite he was going through if he saw a way to earn a buck he was taking it, no matter what.

IIRC that wasn't necessarily a genuine confession. It can be seen as kind of ambiguous. He's there going through some shite with his son facing brain damage and permanent disability, and Tony comes to him crying about the horse when Ralphie doesn't give a shite about that compared to something happening to his human son. He sees Tony as equating what happened to the horse to what happened to his son, so he antagonizes Tony as a frick you to Tony because it pisses him off.

But yeah, that bald psycho killed Pie-O-My.

Yes, he did it for the insurance money since the horse's career was about to go down hill due to constant injuries. He admitted it to Tony in so many words. He admitted it without admitting it, like a good wise guy.

Here's a bit of Sopranos trivia: The producers of the Sopranos originally approached Ray Liotta about playing Ralphie, but he turned them down to focus on movies. The part went to Joe Pantoliano instead

Yeah he may not have been the one to light the match but he definitely had something to do with it.

Loved Ray back then but he would have been one too many guys from Goodfellas. The two already share 27 actors to include: Christofuh, Dr. Melfi, Carmine, Big Pussy, Pauli, Phil Leotardo, Carmella's Mom, etc. On second thought, w/ some many crossovers, why not?

Good think Ray missed out

Pantoliano killed that role

And how cringe worthy was it for Tony to keep his fat hands out so much at the race track?

I don't think so.

Tony didn't kill him for killing Pie-O-My. He killed him for killing (pregnant) Tracee, which Ralphie did, but not necessarily on purpose.

It was justice, regardless.

I say that he did kill Pie but he never right out admitted it. He talked about how there was an upside because of the insurance payout.

Remember that the Hispanic “owner” lady called him when Pie was convulsing and near death and Ralphie didn’t leave his hoowah to go pay the vet and save Pie’s life.

Haven't watched in a while but if I remember correctly, Tony was pissed about Tracee but the horse is what put him over the edge

Yeah. Tony's able to rationalize killing or fricking over humans because on some level he can convince himself they probably deserved it. When it comes to animals, though, Tony's got a soft spot (remember the ducks?), probably because they're the only thing really innocent in his world. He's pissed about the stripper, but the horse is over the line for him. So much over the line that Tony's enraged enough to kill Ralphie with his bare hands.

Oh, and Ralphie torched the frick out of that horse. Insurance pays better than glue factory.
