I watched part of the Andy and Jim documentary deal and it was pretty apparent he’s checked out of earth
I couldn't watch that documentary anymore after about 30 minutes.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he pulls a Robin Williams move and offs himself one of these days.

For a while he seemed to be somehow stuck in a state of ego dissociation that commonly occurs during psychedelic trips, combined with a heavy dose of nihilism.
Saying things like "we're not really here", "this is all just arbitrary perception", etc etc.
Well, that might be true, but the problem is, you can just extend the timeline arbitrarily to highlight the uselessness of such a viewpoint.
Why are you even there doing the interview? Why eat, or dress yourself? The sun's going to blow up in a billion years anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Jim & Andy documentary
Saw it. It's great. He drove everyone fricking bananas making that movie. Jerry Lawler hated his arse.

He seems like a nice enough guy but he's nutty. Didn't he get sued for telling an ex to kill herself and then she did?

The Jerry Lawler stuff was all fake, just like the real Andy Kaufman feud.
I thought that was pretty clear in the documentary

Really? I know the tension with Kaufman was fake, but not with Carrey.

The documentary shows tension between yourself and actor Jim Carrey. What kind of relationship did you have with Carrey?
There was never a good relationship. The problem was Jim Carrey, he went into character for 80 days and, in his mind, he really believed he was channeling Andy Kaufman and that Andy's spirit or soul went into his body and that he was a combination of Jim and Andy. When he channeled Andy Kaufman for those 80 days, Andy never left and Jim Carrey has never been the same since and he is so weird and strange. It really affected his whole mentality making that movie about Andy. When we were doing that movie, I remember that I had to go to the director, and he was a big-time director (Milos Forman). I said to Milos, 'does this freaking guy realize that Andy and I were friends?' He treated me so badly during this thing. He thought Andy and I really despised each other.

He gave his girlfriend, who was a working class English hairdresser, the herp. Then he dumped her via text. Distraught that (her thinking here) she wouldn’t be able to find a good man and have kids like she wanted to, she considered her life over and killed herself. Blamed him in the note.
Jim has always been weird, certainly got weirder making Man on the Moon, but he didn’t go completely nuts until the girlfriend suicide.
The disassociative nihilism of his whole “nothing matters because we’re all just dodecahedrons and I’m not really here” philosophy is transparently a coping mechanism for his guilt for having been the reason this poor girl killed herself. Because then he can say to himself “well she wasn’t real and neither am I and nothing has consequences because nothing matters”.
His obsession with Trump is similar - it’s a distraction he throws himself into to have something to do and rage against mentally rather than spending his time hating himself.
All the bad philosophy and politics would go away if he could directly address his guilt for herping this girl up and then being so callous about it. On one level he is aware of what he did and feels enormous guilt for it but every time those thoughts start to enter his mind he chases them away with this dodecahedron bullshite and by redirecting his own guilt onto Donald Trump.
