I remember seeing it at the theater when it came out thinking it sucked. I haven't watched it since.

Spider Noir gave me some Dick Tracy vibes, especially the color version.
By the way, how hot was Madonna in that Dick Tracy movie?

He's currently 89, wonder what his contingency plan is...assigning the rights to a family member so they can keep dragging out the contract
It would be funny if there's no clause for his death so he could record 50 different skits and just have them all be in "post production" until needed for renewal time.

Dick Tracy was peak Madonna. she was never as hot before or after.
sometimes you can really identify the exact role that a woman's looks peak at. Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns is another one.

Always thought it was ironic Warren Beatty played a guy named Dick

I've never seen it, but it came out between 8th & 9th grades for me.
I remember the McDonald's marketing campaign vividly.

Although Disney was impressed by the opening weekend gross,[34] studio management was expecting the film's total earnings to match Batman.[34] Prior to its overseas release (and other revenue streams), the film was estimated to have generated a $57 million deficit for Disney.[12] Studio chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg expressed disappointment in a studio memo that noted that Dick Tracy had cost about $100 million total to produce, market and promote. "We made demands on our time, talent and treasury that, upon reflection, may not have been worth it," Katzenberg reported.[54]

After the movie, I got this Dick Tracy figure and my sister got the Madonna one.
I just found those in an old box; couldn't believe I still had them.
Still have a movie poster too that I tacked up in the garage. For Christmas or birthday that year, I got a big hard back collection of the original comic strips.

I did a Warner Brothers studio tour with a friend who was an SMU grad. An SMU film school professor set the tour up for us. It was my buddy and I and seven French directors, camera men and other film professionals. We got to watch them adding road noises and birds chirping to the wrecker truck chase scene. We also got to go into the Foley Room and saw and heard what noises were made from each little compartment.
When we got to the street front exterior that they use for movies shot on the lot, they were painted with bright trim in red, yellow, green and blue. They told us the buildings were painted for the Dick Tracy movie they had just finished shooting. They said the same street front had used with different facades in movies and TV shows since the 40's.
They showed us another outside area where they had shot scenes for Christmas Vacation. This was just mockups to shoot from outside into different rooms of Clark's house window. One of the windows had a Dominos sticker on it. When I saw the movie in the theater, I never saw a damn Dominos sticker. It really pissed me off.
