Anyone notice Garett Dillahunt was in it? I wondered if they'd get him involved. He was the one who instigated the beating of Hearst at the end (other than Jane).

I missed that. His Wolcott character died in season 3, so who was he?

I enjoyed it immensely (Deadwood being one of my favorite series ever), although I wish so much time had not passed since the series abruptly ended. But dammit it was awesome to see all of those fantastic characters again, especially Al, Bullock, Trixie and Alma Garrett (Ellsworth). Loved the scenes where Alma outbid Hearst for Charlie's land and Seth asserting his authority. Glad Hearst got some of what he deserved. A shame so much time was wasted before this came to fruition. (& wasting so much time and effort on the theatre troup in the final season)

Probably fitting the Hearst issue wasn't tied in a nice beat bow. But seems with Samuel passing bullock is up shits creek

I forgot that the autistic chick in the whore house was the comedian from the 80's who played Blairs cousin on facts of life.
Wife still watches that show and it was an episode with her cousin, and i was like, wait, she did a show, a western, wait, she was the clean up girl on deadwood.

Rabble Rouser #2. I don't know if he even had a named character. He was only on the screen for maybe 15-30 seconds. He was one of the first guys to go after Hearst when Bullock was dragging Hearst to jail and then decided to let the town beat the shite out of him a little bit. They did a closeup of the character and it was definitely Dillahunt. Was wearing a hat and had longish hair, if I remember right. He yelled something at Hearst about his father, so I can only assume that his character was an unimportant townsman in the context of the Deadwood story, but was the son of yet another man who turned up with a mild case of the deads after a business dealing with Hearst went opposite of the way Hearst wanted it to.

The show, and now the movie, were written like Yoda writing Shakespeare.

Without Al Swearengen?

Reading a review and apparently Milch has early Alzheimers and wrote Al's story in the movie as a sort of biographical perspective.

Felt like a forced Movie, shoved into 119mins
Everyone aged but Marshall
Doc and Calamity Jane are still some of the best characters in the show.

Enjoyed the movie but they couldn't tie up the story of George Hearst because he is a historical character who was in fact nearly beaten to death for the murder of Charlie Utter after his arrest by Marshall Bullock.
As an aside his son was William Randolph Hearst the famous newspaper man.

I, too, enjoyed it tremendously. To me the story flowed in and out like an extended episode.
Al’s last line was fricking hilarious.
I’m not going to nitpick this. There’s no way to please everyone, let alone tickle the intellectual critic, so frick ‘em all.
