That’s the casting that would sell the idea. It’s interesting because when we made the first one there was also a rush to get it out; editors slept in the cutting room on shifts. This is a weird thing, like they want it to come out and tank.

Never mind that Tom is a top level Scientologist?
I don’t care about an actor’s politics. I trust Tom to make good movies. And I think Anne is great in what all I’ve seen her in.
Tom is just having fun at this point in his amazing career, and I’m here for it.

Well Tom Cruise is a homosexual and the original was loosely based on Tim Richmond who died of aids so I’d say they got the casting right the first time

From anybody else, probably a bad idea. With Cruise it's got a shot.
And it's not as if the first one was a cinematic masterpiece, it was a popcorn flick.

Agreed. And with Maverick you had almost everyone back with some really solid additions, especially among the younger actors.
Not sure about this one. Will need to see how they round out casting I think.

To this day I've never seen DoT. Is it any good? I remember when it came out I just had zero interest in seeing it. I never liked NASCAR (still don't), and it just never appealed to me as something I'd be interested in seeing.

It’s a fun blockbuster. Not a ton of substance. You can see how much of it was parodied well in Talladega Nights.
