“I asked you to stop watching the show and thank God almighty for you, you did,” Chappelle said. “You made that show worthless because without your eyes it’s nothing. And when you stopped watching it, they called me. And I got my name back and I got my license back and I got my show back and they paid me millions of dollars. Thank you very much.”

Damn thought for a second they meant new episodes of Chapelle’s Show were coming to Netflix.

That is probably the only move Comedy Central had. Content is still king with a lot of money to them for streaming. They we’re going to be fricked on future streaming deals if Chapelle kept being public about his beef

I don’t think this is true. They stopped watching because you used your clout to have it removed.

wait, i didn't think he wanted anyone watching it because it wasn't right for people to watch it during these times?

I hope he doesn’t have another breakdown with these millions.

For someone who acts like the least tone deaf, smartest guy in the room all the time, running your mouth about your new millions for acting like a roided out bitch is bad timing

Definitely somewhat douchey, but even back in November he acknowledged that he had no real contractual/legal right for them to remove it. Making it public has now probably made him some serious cash so I can’t say I would’ve done anything differently.

I liked Dave more when he was a regular guy. I think his renaissance is going to his head.

Man, how much did Netflix pay for that?

Well played, Dave

So he used cancel culture to get what he wanted? Sounds privileged

I mean good for him but he definitely comes across tone deaf here.

I mean he’s a comedian that’s always had that kind of schtick

Yeah honestly the "they paid me millions" sounds like something he'd say in his stand up and get some laughs from

Viacom kept his show running on CBS All Access. Which you can access through Amazon Prime. It's not like suddenly it was available on Netflix and then suddenly gone and oh, the horror.

It's on CBS All Access now, and it'll be there when it switches to Paramount+.
