I can tell you why it was canceled.

Go back and watch this season. How many times did they say we can “make Hell’s Kitchen great again?” in a positive way? (and use other Trump quotes?). Answer: many times.

The FBI was the bad guy throughout too. Hmmm.

Go back and watch it. There were a lot of veiled pro-Trump themes in it: FBI is dumb, MAGA, concealed carry good, etc. I’m thinking some of the writers/actors are based and Netflix made it pay.

That's great, but if I had the choice between watching a series about some Rob Liefeld characters I don't know or Daredevil, I'm picking Daredevil every time.

I agree but we don't know how much Netflix is paying Disney for these Marvel shows so it might be a much smarter decision than we realize.

Once JJ S3 and Punisher S2 come out, Netflix will have 13 seasons of Marvel shows for people to watch. A lot of people are assuming these properties will just migrate over to Disney but we haven't seen anything suggesting that's the case. Assuming what they have stays for a while does having 15 seasons of Marvel instead of 13 really change the subscription numbers much?

My very first thought when seeing this news was your point above.

Jessica Jones will be done after season three and The Punisher will be done after season two. I really hope at least a couple of these shows continue on Disney's streaming platform.

"Marvel is extremely grateful to the huge audience that loved Marvel's Daredevil," reads a post on Marvel's website. "From the moment of young Matt’s first act of heroism to the birth of Page, Murdock, & Nelson, it has been [an] unbelievable journey."

"We are incredibly proud of the amazing showrunners and writers starting with Drew Goddard and Steven DeKnight, Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie and Erik Oleson, Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D'Onofrio, and our casts who brought our characters to life with such excellence, and every one of the fantastic crews in NYC. We look forward to more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future."

They said something similar about Iron Fist. Wouldn't the simplest interpretation of that be more comics and not more TV? I remember when The Expanse was almost cancelled until Amazon saved it, they made a big deal about not clearing out the set being a sign it might be saved. These kind of things are time sensitive, actors move on, sets get taken over by other shows.

I may actually be more pissed about this than I was when Hannibal was cancelled. It’s close.

I think people are missing something here.

We all know Disney's new streaming service will begin late next year, along with some already announced Marvel programming, Loki, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Falcon & Winter Soldier. Marvel doesnt have any vested interest any more in using Netflix as a platform, so any future projects wouldnt exactly be negotiated in good faith. Netflix bought, produced, and paid for all of the Marvel series to date, they own them, they're not just going to disappear from Netflix and move over to Disney.

JJ3 and Punisher 2 are already in the can, I'm sure once they're out, a similar announcement will follow.

These announced cancellations allow both parties a clean break. You wont see Daredevil season 4 suddenly appear on Disney Streaming while 1-3 are hanging out on Netflix. I think all the series are effectively over, but this does allow the characters to resurface in new projects, but not as a "continuation".

Feige admitted the other day, they looked hard at trying to incorporate all the Netflix Marvel characters into IW, it was just too much. With any luck some of the same actors can continue their roles whenever Disney figures out what they're going to do next.
