Good. All of that political propaganda was defeated by a lowly mob enforcer's rise to glory.

Rocky is the worst movie on that list.

There’s a movie historian I’ve heard talk numerous times that moved to say “Rocky is one of the worst movies to ever win best picture but it was a positive movie in a sea of negativity.”

I don’t agree with that but an interesting take

Apparently, he had never seen Crash or Shakespeare In Love.

Hey, I like Shakespeare in Love. And that’s due to split votes.

You think Rocky is better than any of those? Okay, maybe it’s better than Bound For Glory, but it’s not even close to the others.

So, you think Rocky is better than Taxi Driver?

I do actually.

Taxi Driver is a dark and depressing movie. While it may have moved the needle for film critics and film historians, it doesn't move the needle for me. The same thing goes for All The President's Men.

I agree completely. I’ve seen Taxi Driver once. I wouldn’t say I hated it. But I have no intentions of watching it again. I’ve watched Rocky dozens of times and will assuredly watch it many more times in the future.

I watch movies to be entertained. To me, a good movie is one that entertains me. I don’t watch movies for cultural enlightenment or to expand my horizons or whatever other artsy fartsy shite that film critics spout.

Best actor that year was pretty stacked with iconic performances of De Niro as Travis Bickle and Stallone as Rocky Balboa. Yet I can’t take it away from Peter Finch in Network who drops some of the coldest monologues in movie history.

Rocky is one of the best pictures of all time. “Isn’t that good”, is absolutely laughable. It’s an all-timer.

All The President's Men could be one of the most overrated movies of all time.

They both just seem very, very, very 1970's. Watched them to watch them, but never really felt interested in watching them again.

Network was probably the best 'serious' film of that group, and is still worth watching, IMO.

Rocky turned into a franchise which alters how we view it now. But the success of the original as a low-budget, pretty independently made film with an unknown star/screenwriter is a phenomenal story. Can't wait to see "I Play Rocky."
