Critics are hitting it pretty hard, saying it’s formulaic and predictable.

Right, but you’ve seen those movies already. Do you want to see them again?

Rocky movies are supposed to be formulaic and predictable. It’s a motivational underdog series. Pretty much a remake every few years and that’s why I always watch the new ones plus still rewatch the previous movies whenever they are on.

No way!!

That's why I always go for the audience reviews. Critics take everything way too seriously

I guess that depends on what your definition of "hitting it hard" is. This is the RT consensus:
quote:

Critics Consensus: Creed II's adherence to franchise formula adds up to a sequel with few true surprises, but its time-tested generational themes still pack a solid punch.

I wouldn't call that "hitting it hard".

Coogler is a legit filmmaker that made a great movie. Not a surprise that without him, this is just a generic sequel.

Really unfortunate, because the first creed was awesome.

IDK about the reviews, but I did see where Michael B Jordan said he could beat Roy Jones Jr in a boxing match.

Dude must be concussed from all the fake movie punches he has taken to his head

Was the first Rocky formulaic? Had we ever seen a semi-retarded debt collector rape his future wife and then lose in the movie’s climactic sporting event?

Maybe he did that to promote himself

The first Creed was a good reinvention of the franchise and had great depth with Coogler writing and directing.

Stallone’s films had gotten stale and predictable. Not sure why they let him write this one.

We’ll remember this thread when people whine that Hollywood isn’t original anymore.
