And the Tom Waits prospecting short is one of the best things they've ever done. How high can a bird count anyway?

Wagon train was my favorite.

As I was watching I was thinking some movies don’t have much more story that this. It’s just drawn out by action sequences, useless conversation or moments of silence with dramatic music.

Will watch again soon.

"That pan-covered sonofabitch back at the bank don't hardly fight fair, in my opinion." --- that's the parts of the movie I liked.

My favorite line: "First time?"

Overall it was a great series of stories. The absurd randomness of life and death in the wild west. The lesson of the prospector story: remember Rule #2 - the Double Tap. I'll probably watch it again in a little while.

I enjoyed all of them even though I did consider it boring at times.

Pan shot was good! The part when the Indian popped up from the horse to when he was shot before scalping the cowboy. I was so mad at that stupid dog. I was legit sad when the prospector was shot...crazy bastard. The story teller was just sad. Poor limbless bastard had to be turned around while Liam fricked that hooker.

best work since A Serious Man.

Somebody needs to explain to me the love A Serious Man gets. I just tried to watch it on Netflix and turned it off when I realized I was holding my breath in hopes I would pass out because I was so bored. And I love the Coens. I’m just about convinced everyone who says they love A Serious Man is part of a conspiracy to make rest of us feel stupid. Be honest, you’re just saying you liked it because you want to be different, right?

The prologue gripped me and the rest is just great story telling of not knowing what the hell is going on in life/existence and then what to think of thosr things.

Add in some comedy too.

I haven't finished it. The one called "The Gal who got Rattled" was where the darkness and depression started to get to me, and I needed to take a break. Thought all the ones I saw were really well done though.

I watched them all tonight. I liked them all. Great story telling in the Coen way. Of course my wife said, “I don’t get the point of any of it.”

Of all the terrible shite I’ve read on this board over the years this tops it all. I loved each one more than the previous with the exception of the last one. Even that one had me laughing my arse off.

Other than the Scruggs story, the chapters were overly drawn out. Giving away the ending to the Wagon Train story with the color plate caption was ridiculous. That was an interesting story until you neared the telegraphed ending.

I’m a Coen fan and this was almost as big of a miss as Hail Caesar.

I found it better on the second viewing. The ending killed it for me the first time around. I’m now a fan of the film.

I've watched it all the way through twice, and after the 1st watch my favorites were the 1st two vignettes, after watching it a second time, I liked every one of them. I guess my least favorite was the last one, but it was still good.

I think my favorite scene has to be the bar scene in Buster Scruggs, where he used the poker table as a deadly weapon...only the Coen Brothers could think of shite like that !!!

Same here, I've watched through twice but have seen the 1st 2 several times, sharing withy dad today, he was cracking up. Personally I'm a big fan of all of them, from the fun of the 1st 2, the awesomeness of the miner, the sickening feeling Liam's gave(I was actually ready for it to end as I correctly felt it would go terribly wrong), the gut punch feel of the woman with the dog, and the fun but beautifully symbolic last story

Enjoyed them all. Had a weird feeling they were going to tie them all together by the end. If they somehow did that, it would have been mind melting.

Put it on at Thanksgiving for a bunch of Western fans and they all hated it and turned it off. went back later and ended up fast forwarding through most of it. Didn't even make the last story. not a fan
