Johnny is about the only redeeming thing this season. The Kreese flashbacks are good too. Everything dealing with the kids is dumb and the fight scenes feel so forced. Like the big fight at the end of the last two seasons were pretty cheesy and just unrealistic.

Loved the season. I agree the fight scenes are a little ridiculous but I still have fun watching. The thing that really annoys me is how everyone becomes a karate master after a few weeks of training. Unless they just do a shitty job of showing the passing of time. It's not lost on me that they need to show some fighting and no one wants to watch a show with the kids just training and slowly getting better over the course of a few years. I get that wouldn't work, but as a former karate student, it still annoys me.

demetri's broken arm healed in about the same time frame.
eta i thought the specialist they flew in for miguel's suregery was going to end up being Ali which would be how she & Johnny met back up.
eta2 wtf w/ the money johnny raised for surgery? did that little doodad he swiped from ed asner fetch enough money on the black market to cover the hundreds of thousands the surgery was going to cost?
also kudos to johnny for not being obsessed with money. that's one thing they had right about his character from the beginning. the 2x he came into possession of a significant influx of cash he used to help others. johnny >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Daniel

The thing that no one's acknowledging is that the showrunners have explicitly stated this is "a karate soap opera".

I agree. I could do without these huge gang fight scenes that last an eternity. These don't feel like they fit in the Karate Kid universe.

I always laugh when they make a comment like "I never understood the Valleys obsession with Karate" or something along those lines.

In that scene a punch to the gut, and two kicks to the face and Daniel can't stand. In Cobra Kai, kids kick and punch the shite out of each other for half of an episode, and don't flinch. Fighting is insanely hard on the body, I don't understand how they don't pass out from exhaustion let alone the brutal kicks to the face.

well this what lightsaber fighting in the 70s.

This was light saber fighting in the 2000s..... which chronologically before the previous gif.

you are digging too deep.
then you cant see the bushes from the trees. fighting choreography changes as time passes. This can be seen in Karate Kid vs Cobra Kai and in Star Wars and the prequels/sequels.
that fight scene in KK was a long drawn out fight scene just as the fight scenes in CK.

No. Star Wars can at least explain it better as the Jedi were a much bigger force historically. There were 3 Jedi in the OT, two being on the verge of death and one that had just learned to be a jedi. It's understandable that their skills would be more toned down than the younger / more spry jedi in the prequels.
I understand that choreography gets better, but the scene in KK1 required little because their was very little actual fighting.

No need to gaslight. Most of that video you posted was a chase scene. There was about 1 minute of actual fighting. The fight at the house in Season 3 was over 7 MINUTES of actual fighting. That's what, 1/4 of the episode?

No need to gaslight

quote:i dont agree. Yoda was 850 years old in attack of the clones and he was jumping around doing flips. Hell Vader in Rouge One is way different than the Vader in ANH and what was what, a few weeks before ANH. Watch the recreation of the Vader Obiwan fight....it is how it should have, and could have been done if filmed in recent time. LINK just like everything people are bitching about.... Why it is a tv show with some really annoying and unrealistic shite.

So? This is a thread to discuss Cobra Kai...
I love the show and the drawn out fight scenes are something I can look past because the rest is so good. I think it's a fair thing to nitpick.

My gripe has nothing to do with realism. The fights are just not that interesting. I'd rather them spend more time on what the show is good at.
