His movies are sound mixed horribly.
I still intend to see The Odyssey but part of me is dreading it because the audio in his movies, especially from The Dark Knight Rises onward.

Oppenheimer drove me crazy because he felt damn near every scene needed some kind of mood music.
It’s like some kid in elementary school did the audio.

There are also many many times you can’t hear dialogue because of either overwhelming background audio or too loudly used music.

It’s very distracting and in my opinion ruins a potentially excellent movie.
He literally sucks at audio! He’s the worst director in cinema history when it comes to audio.

Audio mix is WAY better on this.

TENET was the worst but post Dark Knight its like you needed subtitles for his movies.

This I had zero problem with in the theater.

Odyssey is one of his best sound mixed movies. Very little times where it sounded like people were mumbling. I was pleasantly surprised on that front

Most movies in the 80’s did this. And we had some of the best movies ever made then.

The movie isn’t good so I wouldn’t waste my money but the sound, for a Nolan movie was good.

Hard disagree. I think it was one of his worst. Maybe not as consistently bad as some others and certainly has some high points that he’s not achieved in a lot of his movies sound wise, but the bad in this one was by far his worst moments.

I’ll reserve some judgement and say maybe my theater played a part in it, but much of the movie was an assault on the ears. I’ll see it again at some point and see if the issues remain.

It's a lot of whisper talking occasionally broken up by jarring sound effects. I keep wondering if it's some kind of CIA sonic brainwashing or something.

Maybe it plays better in IMAX, but I can't imagine the sound effects are less jarring in that format.

He is obsessed with IMAX cameras, which are very loud and make it extremely difficult to use when filming dialogue scenes.
