Are you like Lupita who never heard of the odyssey before getting the script?

Just wondering.

Why do you feel the need to stan so hard for this movie? You a Nolan bro?

They completely obliterated this movie

quote:

“I couldn't understand the dialogue, and then I started to understand the dialogue and realized how bad the dialogue is”

“I can’t wait to not see this movie again”

Seems like Nolan is tripling down on his audio retardation

I don’t. I haven’t seen it. I even questioned a very positive review in the main thread, saying I have no idea who the person is or why their opinion should be trusted.

However, I’m not stupid enough to fall for the right wing grift, which can’t be said for everyone on this board or in this thread.

It's a Nolan film. It'll have audio, pacing and writing issues. All his films do. I've been saying it for a while, if you enjoy his work, you'll enjoy this. If his style doesn't suit you, this won't change anything

No you old fart I actually read and watch the books, movies and tv I talk about, unlike you. You can go find my 1,000's of posts on the book board if you want. Actually re-reading The Odyssey right now so the source will be fresh on my mind when I see the movie. Thankfully you don't read books and just watch YouTube videos so we don't have to see you on that board. If I ever need to know who the YouTuber I need to watch for the best negative reviews is or a person with a first hand account of the great depression I'll make sure and ask you though

So that if the movie bombed, they could use it as a shield against legitimate criticism.

THE ODYSSEY MARKETING IS… GAY

By this definition, the marketing (and indeed entire movie) for 300 was gay.

Bunch of oiled up, muscular dudes wearing next to nothing?

Clearly must be gay.

Yep, this is definitely the guy I'm going to let determine my view of the movie based on the most influential pieces of Western literature without ever watching it. Absolutely no way I'm judging for myself now, I trust this guy because he definitely doesn't get more engagement with negative reviews than he does positive.

not that big a part in the movie

Doesn’t matter, we know this isn’t The Iliad.

It’s the Odyssey hence less screen time for her. And it’s the principle

Was it historically accurate? Probably not - but if all you see is a bunch of gay men… Hey, just because they’re Greeks doesn’t mean you have to stereotype them.

You clearly have me confused with someone else. I’ve read and own most of Tolkien’s work, and also Tom Clancy, JK Rowling, Jim Butcher, Michael Crichton and many more.

Like most people (no, not Lupita) I did read the Odyssey and The Iliad in high school.

It is because I have read these books, I have always said that a project should respect the source material. That has been a consistent point I have driven for any show or movie.

Most people will see Michelangelo’s David as a beautiful work of art for what it is. But unlike you, I don’t view painting a joker face on it and shoving a dildo up its backside “artistic expression”. I call it vandalism.

Yet time and time again, we are being forced this garbage of “the modern audience“ as if it is some license to do with someone else’s work as they see fit, and that anyone who dares to speak out against it is a racist bigot homophobic Nazi fascist xenophobic misogynistic inbred cousin humping basement dweller who drinks cheap beer for breakfast. In his double wide.

Chris' reaction is about what I've expected. Not terrible but not especially great either, and the modern language takes you out of the experience.
