I love sitcoms, but I think his reasoning for not liking the same setting is legit. I hate when we film movies in one place for to long and stages are boring as frick to film on, especially for crew.

I am actually surprised given that Chevy had not been getting steady work before Community and had basically become irrelevant in the industry. Seriously I am willing to bet the house that the bulk of Community's audience had no idea who Chevy Chase even was.

He may not like this sort of medium but Pierce Hawthorne has actually become somewhat of a household sitcom character that some love and love to hate. I figured he would think that there was something in that at least.

He has a perception gap, he always has. Look at his filmography on IMDB, he is lucky anybody would give him a steady paycheck. I don't think he's ever gotten over the failure of Memoirs of an Invisible Man. I remember when he was doing press for that movie prior to release. He was going on all these shows saying how he was now a serious actor and was leaving roles like Clark Griswold and Fletch behind, even getting testy with some reporters. He has always been an a-hole, even when he was on SNL.

If he doesn't like sitting around a table telling jokes then why the hell did he have a late night talk show?

Perhaps he doesn't want to be reminded of that awful failure of a talk show

Who cares about the cast and crew's entertainment while doing their jobs? I could give less of a crap whether the employees had a good time making their product. I care about whether it is enjoyable for the audience to watch their product.

Is there a more clear cut winner in a pop culture feud than Bill Murray over Chevy Chase? He won in every way possible.

Agreed. These days Murray is, in a word, beloved. Chevy is pretty universally a joke these days.

Chevy had some solid success 20-30 years ago, and Murray has been a star almost nonstop ever since.

It's awesome.

Chase became a star in the early mid 70's

at that time, NO ONE wanted to do sitcoms except duds who couldn't get other gigs

pretty easy to understand the view of TV. It's a tough biz lots of hours lots of doing nothing too

and most things on over the air TV are shite anyway.

This link is a pretty good rundown of his assholishness. He's hilarious on community but I would not want to be around this guy.

he's a pretty well known dick in the industry. wow, that sentence kinda sounded pornish.

anyway, i think there are other guys who could pull off pierce hawthorne. that show brought him back to being relevant. and then he went all chevy chase on it.
