Not young enough. Gunn likes 'em young.

Be awesome if they cast him as Hyperion

I'm guessing Gunn is going to go with a whole new cast so it would be fricking hilarious if Fiege nabbed all of them for the Squadron Supreme (Ezra's real-life insanity would actually work for the Whizzer, especially if they give him a personality like Crime Syndicate's Johnny Quick).

I sort of get it. Cavill is going to be 40 in May. If a continuation, it could be fine, but for a reboot/reworking of the character and film series, probably time to find a guy late 20s up to, maybe 33 or 34.

People have been waiting for an older full powered kick some arse Superman. Watching him get his powers and learn to do the boy scout BS has been done over and over.

Henry was the perfect Supes.

That being said you hired Gunn to run the franchise and have to trust his vision for better or worse. This shite show needs to be re-booted and started from the ground up.

This is the truth. It wasn't Cavill's fault and people need to separate the love for an actor from what the actor was asked to portray.

Superman has been broken for a long time, I applaud Gunn and Saffrin for at least trying to right the ship.

I will wait and see before jumping to any conclusion good or bad.

The second no homo cancelled the first. So, yes, homo.

Maybe, but they simply cannot keep doing what they have been doing.

I think they are taking a page out of the Reeves The Batman and starting over with the Universe.

If you are doing that, wiping away everything that came before is the right call. How can anyone argue otherwise?

Time to start over.

We have never really seen a "real" Superman movie IMO.

Back as Geralt???

Probably not. Rumor is the main reason he left wasn't scheduling issues. It was that Cavill butted heads with the showrunner/writers for not staying true to the source material. If it wasn't for Cavill, the first two seasons would have deviated even further.

While this sux, I assumes this now opens up his entry into the MCU.

It's incredible how poorly DC has handled Superman that last 10 plus years. Cavill was a great Superman and had nothing but shite to work with since he got the job.

He was RDJ level of perfect casting for that role too

Welp I’m done. Batman and Superman are my favorite characters and now it’s ruined. That’s great

a pretty wooden and uninteresting Superman

That's my take, as well, and I don't blame Cavill. I only watched Man of Steel and it was very hit and miss for me. Some things were spot on, other choices were jarring. And I'm a Superman guy from way, way back.

"Wooden" isn't a bad thing for a Superman performance. He's supposed to be reserved, strong but reassuring. His threats should come in pleasant phrases and tempered dialogue.

Christopher Reeve:
"General, would you care to step outside?"

George Newbern:
"That man won't quit as long as he can still draw a breath. None of my teammates will.
Me? I've got a different problem. I feel like I live in a world made of cardboard. Always taking constant care not to break something. To break someone. Never allowing myself to lose control, even for a moment, or someone could die.
But you can take it, can't ya, big man? What we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose, and show you just how powerful I really am."

Cavill's wooden performance wasn't the problem. He just didn't get the scenes that allowed that stoic build-up to pay off.

The Superman VS the Justice League fight in Snyder's JL cut was great though.

And you still aren't going to. That isn't what Gunn is doing from what I understand
