He already got fact checked on two examples so who knows if anything he’s saying is actually true or not.

Snape is described as a thin man with sallow skin, a large, hooked nose, and yellow, uneven teeth. He has shoulder-length, greasy black hair which frames his face, and cold, black eyes. He wears black, flowing robes which give him the appearance of "an overgrown bat".[60] The youthful Snape had a "stringy, pallid look", being "round-shouldered yet angular", having a "twitchy" walk "that recalled a spider" and "long oily hair that jumped about his face".[27

That is a character description of Snape. How many black men you know with "sallow skin" or "greasy, oily long hair"?

There are plenty of black characters in the HP world they can create more story for but to outright change the entire race of a huge character is just stupid and wrong. This is another example of not getting a well known character right and suffer the same consequence as Disney did with Snow White.

personally i think he just does it to piss everyone off and gets off on the chaos

ETA: The smarter Dumbledore casting would have been Jared Harris who is in his mid-60s now and who could replace his father better than him?

I thought the same but he refused.

In an interview with The Independent, Harris was asked about playing Dumbledore and simply replied, “No thank you.” And he didn’t hold back on his thoughts of a TV series for the books made popular by author J.K. Rowling.

“I mean, why do it? I don’t understand. The films were fantastic — leave them alone,” Harris told The Independent.

he's not gonna look like book Snape. they have changed his appearance as has happened with thousands of characters before.

It's pretty obvious why certain people get so upset about it when it is something as superficial as skin color but don't get nearly as mad over changes like making Snape wayyy older in the movies than the books.

We would never see a post titled
"Casting an older actor as Snape in upcoming Potter series is just awful"

Stop upvoting yourself queer.
Anyway, I have no problem with a black Snape. Not a huge fan, enjoy the movies. Currently reading the books because my daughter is reading them. They are ok, not a huge fan of young adult fiction. I have heard the series grows with its readers, so I look forward to JKRs developing style.
I’m looking forward to the show.
And I think the casting is pretty good so far.

This is how I know your opinion matters little here. You don't understand how upset people are that something like Peeves was gone. The shite they did to Ginny's character in the movies. Cho being the person that turned them in. Potterheads absolutely despise a lot of the small and big changes they made to make the movies work. People love that Alan Rickman was part of the movies and that he made a great character. That was in fact complained about when he was cast. He definitely wasn't right from an age perspective in the slightest and people didn't like that. I absolutely want a faithful depection of him this time as a young character. I am not a huge fan of the movie adaptation, I much prefer the book.

Potterheads want a completely faithful adaptation, but Hollywood cannot help themselves. I fully expect this change to be small compared to the ones that will be coming.

Yes, potterheads do. But the people complaining about this arent all potterheads. They are the people that wont ever shut up about woke this and that and never shut up about race.

Hell a few of them already said that this will make the show racially problematic because any white kid picking on a black kid is seen as racist in their minds.

There opinions don't matter much either. I'm a potterhead, I'm fearing WoT level changes at this point.

And you and your ilk are exactly the types to caterwaul about the racial politics of that scene.

Nope. That shite is annoying as hell. If everyone shut up about race the world would be better off like it was in the 90s.

Kids are gonna pick on kids for any reason they can find.

It does change the dynamic of the bullying. It was a traditional geeky kid vs athletic kid bullying. Only the athletic kid was more anti classist or racist, while the geeky kid harbored that bigotry. There is definite aspects to the story that changes with James bullying. It brings a different nuance to it. It's there, you can't just put this story in a vacuum and go color blind on the racial aspect that is now going to be introduced if Harry and James are white.

They can just show snape do something embarressing and James will make fun of him for it.

There will be other black/brown characters around so it wont be like James is bullying the only one. There very well may be a black Marauder in James crew joining in on the bullying. These are not hard problems to address.

This mofo just tried to use the “black friends” excuse in reverse lmfao. He’s too stupid to hide what he is.

It is hard to do right and not look like token attempts to add diversity honestly without cost to the story. Otherwise, we wouldn't have so many f**k ups. People preach about how complex the subject is to address, but suddenly it's super easy and barely an inconvenience when you need it to be.
