Pretty clear that she departs at the end
Looks like she might go Binary:
If she does, that could be why she leaves.
Binary is suuuuuper powerful and also removes any emotional connection she has to earth. She may leave for the safety of Earth.

Where the hell has she been since Thanos has been terrorizing the galaxy looking for the Infinity Stones? Maybe she left Earth for whatever reason but considering many of the Marvel movies have shown how far Thanos’s influence goes, you’d think she - with her ultimate powers - would have showed up somewhere a while back.

Maybe Gamora knew

Not only that, Fury finds it necessary to call her for help after people start vanishing from the snap, but he didn't think they needed help when aliens opened a portal over NYC and wanted to take over the earth?
Slightly plausible explanation - in NYC, he had all of the Avengers available and believed they could handle any ET threats.
At the time of the Snap, he's operating independently, Avengers are toast, Thor and Hulk have been missing for years and he might know/suspect Stark is not on Earth. Good time to call 911.

I'm completely ignorant on anything related to Captain Marvel, but is there any reason that she becomes a wild card at the end of this movie and that's why Fury is hesitant to call her? Sure, he maybe could have called paged her years ago or pre-snap, but is it possible that he wouldn't know who's side she would be on if she came back? Like it'd take truly desperate times for Fury to try her. Post-snap could be that reason.
I'm not sure why people are down on the trailer. It got me intrigued.

Maybe she is like dark Phoenix or something. Or like hulk used to be. Fury even says “Rouge soldier”

Captain Marvel is still a dumb, lazy name.

I love that my daughter gets to see action heroes on the big screen that she can relate to. Representation is important.

You can't possibly think they won't address this in the movie. Come on man. What a stupid thing to rant about.
I never said they wouldn’t address it. It’s lame to say she exists and has had zero part in what’s been going on. Especially if she’s just a phone call away from Fury. However they address it - unless she’s on the ship as Thanos’s sidekick - will seem cheap and forced to include her into the storyline that’s been built over 15+ movies.

If she goes Binary, (which it looks like she might):
and they follow the comics, then Binary is immensely powerful but also emotionally disconnected from humanity. She may leave in an attempt to get it under control and Fury has no way of knowing if the risk is worth the potential reward until something like the "THE SNAP" happens.

Possible that her and Nick Fury had a falling out, similar to Tony and Steve, and he's calling her as a last resort.
Maybe she left because she was too powerful and sought solitude to learn how to control her abilities (binary like someone already mentioned).
Maybe she left and didn't tell anyone where she was going?
Lot's of questions but I think it looks pretty good as a first peek.

The point is, you don't know if they have a great and understandable reason for why she's been missing. It's just stupid to bitch about right now. If the movie comes out and the explanation is stupid, then fine. Rant away.

I'm getting a Green Lantern feel from this

I have no doubt that Marvel will be able to explain her absence to most people's satisfaction.
It's a common comic book trope that will come up in a lot of these films. You have "existing" powers that didn't intervene when you'd think that they would have. As they introduce more heroes it will come up more often.
Why didn't Wonder Woman intervene with Zod? Where were the Green Lanterns? Why did Fury blame Thor for escalating things when they'd obviously come into contact with aliens back in the 90's? It's just stuff that you have to work around.
