He's been toting this around for a while.....

It's held up really well.

Must be a Nokia.

That's really my only complaint other than no arse.

Carol is boisterous. Which is why her dynamic can work with Tony because they both ham it up and not just for their AA scenes.

Other than that. I do enjoy a well done amnesiac story, so see how it goes. I do get the feeling this may be for visuals what GotG is for music.

How far down the Skrull tunnel will they go you think? Full Secret Invasion or the more clandestine stuff from FF?

Speaking of music, I have no idea if the music in the trailer is the actual score, but it is outstanding.

Completely underwhelming...very surprised.

It just simply lacks that "Marvel Universe" energy and slick, fast paced editing and soundtrack that we've come to associate with the Marvel brand. I don't think Brie Larson is enough on her own without it. But it's just the first trailer, so we'll see.

I really don't know if Brie Larson has the presence to pull this off.

I'm pretty shocked by how boring this is. This should be Marvel's most cosmic character yet. Her voice is so laid back and unheroic. I don't expect a Shakespearean performance, but give us some kind of energy. Hopefully they treated this like a teaser and are holding back on us.

Perhaps I’m being too worried or maybe too jaded after the recent trend of shoving girl power in our faces...

...but I’m really not excited about some new super-super powered hero that has been called to save the day in the Avengers storyline. Where the hell has she been since Thanos has been terrorizing the galaxy looking for the Infinity Stones? Maybe she left Earth for whatever reason but considering many of the Marvel movies have shown how far Thanos’s influence goes, you’d think she - with her ultimate powers - would have showed up somewhere a while back.

I’d probably be more excited if A4 came out before Captain Marvel. But as of now, it seems like we’re about to see how “her” can become “a hero” and save the boys from the purple man’s glove.

I’d expect the latter. The Skrull make an impact but are ultimately driven back with their tail between their legs. This one is more Kree/Skrull war focuses but the events put Earth on their radar to return later.
Full on Secret Invasion is definitely an Avengers level event

You can't possibly think they won't address this in the movie. Come on man. What a stupid thing to rant about.

That's...backlash? The trailer isn't exciting. Those are all valid criticsms.

I wonder how a movie set in the mid-90s will tie into the rest of the MCU.
quote:

Fury and Coulson (with hairline) de-aged look great.

I'm kind of picking up a Nick Fury narration going on, and dig the approach.

Something about the way he looks and talks (I was about ready to hang it up, or something like that), sounds like he was tired, and ready to retire or quit when she pops into the scene.

Remember, there appears to be no superhero/villain stuff going on between Cap's initial disappearance in 1945, and Tony Stark's Iron Man in 2008. Rumors of Winter Soldier, you have Black Widow and Hawkeye doing elite spec-op stuff. That's it. Cap's just still on ice. Fury might be stuck in a rut doing SHIELD wetwork, no real inspiration, tired of it. Hank Pym was around, but has left SHIELD by this point, so maybe the agency is running to an end.

She shows up, and that ignites his passion for more: Avengers initiative, etc. And BTW initially tips him off to the greater extraterrestrial threat facing Earth (in this case, her allies and enemies, both overwhelmingly more powerful than Earth can handle).

Pretty clear that she departs at the end, or she'd be in Avengers running the show, not them defrosting Capt America for that role.

I dig it. Hopefully Larson has some big Carol scenes. I'd hate for all the power to be cgi.

I don't understand why you're arguing that criticisms of the trailer does not equate to backlash. This is a stupid argument on both our ends. I don't know anything about the comics. The trailer looked fun to me.

My only point was that Marvel does not mess up origin stories. They're all at the very least good and most are very good or better. I'm sure this will be no different.

Not only that, Fury finds it necessary to call her for help after people start vanishing from the snap, but he didn't think they needed help when aliens opened a portal over NYC and wanted to take over the earth?

I try not to think to much into things like that.
